From Parcines via the Saxnerweg tail and Vellauer Felsenweg to Hochmuth

From the centre of Partschins (bus turning point) past the Gaudententurm manor house and continue on trail no. 10 B over the Töllgraben, then on the Saxnerweg trail (trail 26 A) to Vellau (906 m). Take the asphalt road to the little church in Vellau. Behind the church, turn left onto trail no. 22 "Vellauer Felsenweg". The first section leads through the forest, then the trail follows a pleasant incline along the rocky and steep slope below the Mutspitze. The Vellauer Felsenweg is only suitable for those who are free from giddiness and sure-footed, and some exposed sections are secured with chains. You are rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of the Merano valley basin. The rock path ends at the mountain station of the Hochmuth cable car (1,400 m).
Tip: A short climb takes you to the viewing platform below the Steinegg inn with a unique panoramic view of the South Tyrolean mountains around Merano. Return to Parcines via the ascent path or take the Hochmuth cable car to Dorf Tirol and return to Parcines by public transport.
