Small Trodena Round (Old railroad track)

Truden/Trodena
From Truden via Glen and Montan to the old Fleimstal railway to Kaltenbrunn and back. Trail no. 2. Refreshments: Schönwies, Trudnerhof.

Starting in the centre of Trodena we ride downhill a few kilometres. The asphalted street passes vineyards where you can enjoy the amazing view of the Valle dell'Adige. Then we'll reach the village of Gleno and Montagna. On the old railroad track, which leads into the Val di Fiemme, we pass the village of Montagna. With an easy grade, as it was necessary for an old steam locomotive, we follow the old railroad tracks over bridge constructions and pleasant gravel paths until we reach Fontanefredde. After only two kilometres you'll reach again the centre of Trodena.

Itinerary
The tour starts next to St. Blaise Church in Truden. From there, follow Mühlner Street and continue straight ahead. Then join Fleimstal Road and continue past the village of Kalditsch. Shortly before Kaltenbrunn, turn right towards Truden. Pass the Truden themed playground and continue until you reach the starting point of the tour next to St. Blaise Church.

Overview
Before the cycling tour, check the weather forecast, wear a helmet and highly visible clothing, and adapt your equipment to the weather conditions.
For the cycling tour, you need a bike in good condition, sun protection, enough drinking water and a repair kit.
Visit to the Truden Nature Park Visitor Centre.
  1. Take the train from Bolzano railway station to Neumarkt-Tramin railway station. There, change to bus line 144 and continue to the Truden, Kirche bus stop, where you get off.
  2. From Bolzano railway station, take bus line 120 to Neumarkt bus station. There, change to bus line 144. Afterwards, continue to the Truden, Kirche bus stop, where you get off.
Please check in advance whether bicycles can be taken on the bus.
Directions
From the A22 motorway, take the Neumarkt-Auer (Egna-Ora) exit. Then follow the signs towards Montan/Truden. Drive through Montan and continue towards Truden until you reach the village.
