This winter hike starts from the Frommer Alm hut and goes to the inviting, traditional Messnerjoch hut on a well-prepared path with stunning views of the Rosengarten | Catinaccio.

This winter hike begins at the Frommer Alm hut and leads through a charming winter landscape to the Nigerpass | Passo Nigra and then to the Messnerjoch hut. The route follows a well-prepared path and offers an impressive view of the Rosengarten | Catinaccio. The Messnerjoch hut invites you to stop and relax. Here, you can enjoy a warm drink and homemade specialties while taking in the view of the winter mountain landscape.
Itinerary
This winter hike begins at the parking lot below the Frommer Alm hut. You follow the path "Perlenweg | Sentiero delle Perle" path below the Nigerstraße | Via Nigra, which transitions into a well-prepared, groomed winter hiking path to the Nigerpass | Passo Nigra. From there, it goes along the forest road path [1] to the Messnerjoch hut. Breathtaking, panoramic views can be enjoyed from here. Return via the same route.

Alternatively, you can take a shorter option by starting from the Nigerpass | Passo Nigra.

Overview
Good winter equipment is required (winter boots, possibly also crampons if needed, etc.).

Getting to the starting point of the tour by public transport is easy and convenient. 

By public bus line:
- 180 from Bozen | Bolzano, Birchabruck | Ponte Nova
- 180 from Fassatal | Val di Fassa, Karersee | Carezza, Karerpass | Passo Costalunga
- 184 from Weissenstein | Pietralba, Petersberg | Monte San Pietro, Deutschnofen | Nova Ponente, Stenk (or 181 and change 180)
- 184 from Obereggen, Eggen | Ega (or 184 and change 180)
- 186 from St. Zyprian | S. Cipriano, Nigerpass | Passo Nigra with change 180
- 187 from Steinegg | Collepietra, Gummer | San Valentino (or 182 and change 180)
