Hike at the foot of the Mutspitze peak with wonderful panoramic views of the surroundings.
The starting point of this somewhat more demanding route is the center of Dorf Tirol/Tirolo. Start out along Schlossweg, then through the Knappenloch tunnel into the Koestengraben gorge, then continue uphill to the kiosk. Here head right to the Burgfriedweg trail and past the Leisterhof, steeply downhill and then right again uphill to the Farmerhoefe. At the Farmerkreuz it is possible to access the upper loop of the Forest path, which leads through the forest to the Tiroler Kreuz inn. From here return to Dorf Tirol either on foot or by bus.
Take bus 221 from Merano to Dorf Tirol bus station in the centre of the village.
Along the Bolzano/Bozen-Meran/Merano expressway to the exit Meran South-Sinich/Sinigo - Dorf Tirol/Tirolo - along the main street to the tourist information association (main street 31).
Chargeable parking just down from the tourist information association near the turn-off onto Aichweg.
