The Wilde Kreuzspitze is a spectacular destination for experienced hikers. This route takes you through alpine landscapes, picturesque lakes, and high pastures to over 3,000 meters. Surefootedness and a head for heights are essential, but the stunning views from the summit make it all worthwhile.
Start at the parking lot near the Fane Alm (1,741 m) and follow Trail No. 17, which leads you through the charming alpine village of Fane Alm to a fork in the path. From here, take Trail No. 18, which guides you to the Labeseben Alm and then to the Wildensee. Shortly before the lake, there are some fixed-rope sections, requiring surefootedness and a head for heights.
Continue along Trail No. 18, ascending to the Rauhtaljoch (2,807 m). From here, the trail leads directly to the summit of the Wilde Kreuzspitze (3,132 m), the highest peak in the area, offering breathtaking panoramic views.
The descent initially follows the same path back to the joch. Then, take Trail No. 17B down to the Brixner Hütte (2,282 m), where you can enjoy a well-earned break. The return to the starting point follows Trail No. 17, which leads back to the fork and finally to the parking lot.
