Trailrunning: Sextner Circular Trail

Sexten/Sesto, Dolomites Region 3 Zinnen
from center
Run once all around Sexten
  • Magnificent views
  • Get to know the village and its special features
  • Varied path
Itinerary
The trail starts at the Kinigerhöfe (1375 m) above Sexten and initially leads to Moos / "Palmstatt" (trail no. 1). Passing the mountain station of the Bruggerlift ski lift, a narrow path runs along the edge of the forest until it meets the forest road to the Sexten alpine pastures. Follow this for only a short distance before turning right onto the first forest path no. 1 towards Signaue. At the parking lot near the Hennstoll restaurant (1450 m), turn right at the barrier towards Gilte and continue to Hotel Rainer. From there, trail no. 1 leads past the playground to the valley station of the Rotwand cable car. Passing the Mühlenhof, follow trail no. 102 into the Fischleintal valley for a short stretch, but then turn right uphill at the signpost near the dry toilet to reach the upper meadow path (no. 1). This beautiful path runs out of the valley in a westerly direction to the historic Haideck fortress (1413 m). From there, the path continues with a slight descent until a narrow forest path branches off to the left in a sharp right-hand curve. This leads further down the valley to the Waldheimlift. After crossing the main road, change to the opposite Helm side of the Sextental valley and reach the Kinigerhöfe again via a small hill – the starting point of the loop.
