Distinctive high peak with impressive views of the Zillertal Alps, the Venediger and Rieserferner mountain ranges and the Dolomites.
From the mountain village Mühlbach/Rio Molino car park (1600 m; above Uttenheim/Villa Ottone): follow trail no. 2 into the valley and past the Mühlbacher Badl inn / restaurant and along the forest path in the direction of Huberalm hut. The forest path ends at the Oberwangeralm hut (2027 m), now turn left onto trail no. 5 and follow the signs to "Windschar". Across grassy slopes and terrain interspersed with scree, at times very steeply up towards Grubscharte (2802 m), continue across a flat ridge to the foot of the steep eastern flank of the mountain. Via the marked rock path, not difficult, up to the summit (3041 m).
Walking time approx. 4.30 h. Not difficult for experienced hikers, the tour requires surefootedness and endurance. Special note: Danger of falling rocks in the steep terrain! Be aware of not loosing and kicking off any stones!
