Very demanding but extremely rewarding trail to the peak of the Stelvio Pass.
The route starts from the small town of Trafoi and leads us along trail no. 17 for the ascent to the alpine hut Furkelhütte. We continue for 8 km on the very picturesque Goldsee Lake Trail (no. 20), past the homonymous lake, to the peak of the Stelvio Pass. We cross the peak and head towards the alpine Tibet hut where we meet trail no. 13. We then follow this trail uphill for a short while before it leads us on a steep descent to the hotel Franzenshöhe. From here we continue on trail no. 13 and no. 10 to the Sacred Three Wells where we follow, for the last two kilometres, a small road out of the valley until we reach the starting point. TIP: Make sure to keep your eyes upwards time and again as the bearded vulture can often be seen in this area.
