The hike starts in Stange and follows trail no. 1A to the Gilfenklamm gorge ticket office. From there, the route continues over stairs and bridges through the impressive Gilfenklamm gorge to Jaufensteg, from where the return to the starting point is possible with bus line 319 (Ratschings–Sterzing). To avoid uphill sections, the gorge can alternatively be hiked in the opposite direction, from Jaufensteg to Stange.
Refreshments are available in Stange at the Inn Zur Gilfenklamm and in Jaufensteg at the Inn Jauensteg.
The starting point can be reached by bus lines 319 (Sterzing – Ratschings) and 312 (Sterzing – Ridnaun). The stop is called „Stange“. More information on schedules and connections is available at www.suedtirolmobil.info/en.
From Sterzing, drive towards the Ratschings and Ridnaun valleys, passing the village of Gasteig, to Stange, the starting point of the Gilfenklamm.
Shortly before the Hotel Ratschingserhof, coming from Sterzing, there is a parking lot on the left directly at the gorge entrance. Alternatively, parking is available at the Stange sports area.
