Round the Geisler peaks
A green place, the Dolomites scenery and a wealth of food: it’s all along the Adolf Munkel Trail in Villnöß
Up and down through larch forests, dwarf shrub heaths, meadows and Alpine pastures, the family-friendly Adolf Munkel Trail leads through the alpine mountain world at the foot of the Villnöss Valley Geisler peaks. Here, in the Puez-Odle Nature Park, which is part of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site, the craggy rock formations seem close enough to touch. A stop at the Dolomites Cinema above the Geisleralm mountain hut, is where you can enjoy a calm landscape after a food break on comfortable wooden loungers. But the circular hike it is also a geological wonder. Thus, at Gschnagenhardt hut, below the Sass Rigais mountain, several rock formations and layers from which the Dolomites were formed over millions of years can be seen. No wonder a natural rock climbing arena is along the way. The natural rock climbing arena below the Furchetta mountain north face offers routes with all climbing grades - ideal for special vertical adventures.
