The natural spectacle of the rock
Enjoy scenic natural attractions for all ages: The Knottnkino viewpoint on the Tschögglberg mountain
The Knottnkino viewpoint motto is: Take a seat, sit back and enjoy. At this gorgeous viewpoint, it is easy to figure out who the real star is. In case you were curious, "Knottn" means rock in the South Tyrolean dialect. “Kino” means theatre, referring to the 30 cinema-style seats situated on a rocky ledge. They are made of steel and chestnut wood and were designed by the artist Franz Messner from Ritten/Renon. From these box seats, the whole family can enjoy the unique views over the entire Etschtal valley, from the peaks of the Texelgruppe range to the Gantkofel, Penegal and Weisshorn mountains.
There are also various hiking trails around this popular vantage point on the high plateau of Hafling/Avelengo, Vöran/Verano and Meran/Merano 2000. The new Knottnkino³ circular tour is particularly impressive. It leads from the Burgstall-Vöran cable car to the three rocky "Rotstein Knott," "Beimstein Knott," and "Timpfler Knott" outcroppings. The rock formations of wine-red porphyry rock are unique in South Tyrol. Along the way, artist-designed rest areas invite you to sit back and relax.
