Gsiesertal/Val Casies is a true cross-country skiing paradise. The entire cross-country skiing network has pleasure trails for the whole family, secluded passages, high-altitude trails with spectacular views and floodlit trails for all levels of difficulty.
This 1.5 km section connects the farm "Untersinnerhof" with the Binta Pub, running through open valley stretches. The flat route and open views make it a pleasant and easy link to ski right in the heart of the Val Casies Valley.
From the head of the valley in S. Maddalena, this 4 km trail gently ascends via Ackerle to bridge "Weider Brücke". Along the way are views of farms, snowy slopes and the Dolomites – a calm and scenic link towards S. Martino.
This 1.5 km section starts from the head of the valley at S. Maddalena and leads towards Ackerle to the farm “Waldsamerhof”. The trail ascends slightly and winds through peaceful winter scenery with a stunning view of the Dolomites – a scenic transition with alpine flair.
This especially peaceful 1.5 km section links Durnwald with the farm "Untersinnerhof". It follows the Gsieserbach stream almost entirely flat through a quiet winter landscape – ideal for a short break and panoramic enjoyment.
This 2.5 km section connects the Binta Pub with Hotel Tyrol and runs through open parts of the valley without entering any forest. Following the Gsieserbach stream, the trail shifts between flat stretches and gentle undulations – a particularly pleasant segment with constant views of the surrounding winter landscape.

1) Sesto, S. Vito - end of the Fiscalina Valley - Dobbiaco - right to Lake Dürrensee, on the way back left - Nordic Arena
2) Nordic Arena - Villabassa - Braies, Ferrara - Monguelfo - Head of the valley Val Casies Valley.
One route per day; both routes within 7 days. In total: 90 cross-country skiing kilometers must be completed.
The route and time must be recorded by the runner via a GPX app or GPX watch.

Note: In Monguelfo the connecting route to the Val Casies Valley can only be reached on foot through the village. The timekeeping will be stopped in Monguelfo/exit center in the meantime and will be activated again in Monguelfo/start Val Casies Cross Country track.
This 1.5 km section leads gently uphill from the sports field in S. Martino to Preindl. Surrounded by open landscapes and wide valley views, it offers a pleasant link for relaxed cross-country skiing.
This section starts from Monguelfo, about a ten-minute walk from the village centre. After a forested stretch, the trail steadily ascends to the Brückenwirt. At nearly 3 km in length, it is of medium difficulty – a scenic and varied connection into the Val Casies Valley.
From bridge "Weider Brücke", this moderately difficult section leads past traditional farms, gently ascending along the Gsieserbach stream to S. Maddalena. After the village centre, the trail continues to the valley head – an authentic nature experience amid mountain scenery.
The 50 km long cross-country ski track leads from Monguelfo over snow-covered fields, through romantic snow-covered forests, past picturesque farmhouses and inns to the head of the valley in Santa Maddalena – Val Casies Valley and back to Tesido and Monguelfo. Always in view: the panorama of the Dolomites. Whether gliding with energy or at a leisurely pace – this trail combines movement and scenery, offering every skier a moment of winter bliss.
This approx. 1.7 km section links Kargruben with the sports field in S. Martino. The trail runs through open terrain, is completely flat and offers a gentle, enjoyable connection through the wintry valley landscape – ideal for relaxed sessions with wide views.
This section begins in Tesido and winds through wide meadows and light woodland. The route is easy to ski and offers a comfortable link into the Val Casies Valley and towards Monguelfo – ideal for beginners, nature lovers or leisurely scenic tours.

This approx. 20 km route runs along one continuous side of the Val Casies Valley – from Monguelfo to S. Maddalena. The trail passes quiet forests, open meadows and traditional farms, offering frequent views of the Dolomites. With connections to Tesido and Monguelfo, it’s also ideal for varied round tours.
This approx. 3 km section starts at Hotel Tyrol in Colle and leads in varied terrain across open stretches, forest edges and fields to Kargruben. A tunnel allows skiers to cross to the other side of the valley – a scenic and easy route towards S. Martino.
Between the Brückenwirt and the farm “Untersinnerhof”, this 2 km section in Colle runs alongside the Gsieserbach stream. Its flat course, proximity to the water and surrounding winter silence create a particularly atmospheric experience at any time of day.
The 2.5 km circuit near S. Maddalena is perfect for beginners, those returning to skiing, or anyone seeking a peaceful and scenic circuit. Alternating sunny stretches, woodland and open areas – all embedded in the calm of the head of the valley.
This 5 km section connects the sports field in S. Martino to Hotel Tyrol in Colle via Preindl. The trail undulates through open scenery and along forest edges, always offering wide views of the Val Casies Valley – a varied connection between two villages.
This 1.5 km section leads straight from the sports field in S. Martino through the Val Casies Valley to bridge "Weider Brücke". On one side lie rustic farms, on the other a quiet forest strip – a short, flat link with rural charm.
