The traditional South Tyrolean recipe for the Easter season
Ingredients
4 servings
500 g flour
1 cube of yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 egg
250 ml milk
2 tbsp oil
2 tbsp anise
A pinch of salt
Preparation
Time to prepare: 2 h
Combine the dry ingredients with the egg, oil, and yeast.
Mix the lukewarm milk with the rest of the ingredients and knead to form a smooth dough.
Leave the dough to rest in a warm place until it has roughly doubled in size (ca. 1 hour).
Shape into two loaves and use a fork to press a star pattern into them.
Let the dough rest for another 30 minutes.
Bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C for about 20 minutes.
Brush with butter while the loaves are still hot.
