4 servings
The traditional South Tyrolean recipe for the Easter season

Ingredients

4 servings
  • 500 g flour
  • 1 cube of yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 250 ml milk
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp anise
  • A pinch of salt

Preparation

Time to prepare: 2 h
Combine the dry ingredients with the egg, oil, and yeast. Mix the lukewarm milk with the rest of the ingredients and knead to form a smooth dough. Leave the dough to rest in a warm place until it has roughly doubled in size (ca. 1 hour). Shape into two loaves and use a fork to press a star pattern into them. Let the dough rest for another 30 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C for about 20 minutes. Brush with butter while the loaves are still hot.
