Hotel description
As close to the heart of it all as the core of an apple camping in the Etsch Valley in South Tyrol Our location is a real advantage! Our camp site is right at the heart of the loveliest holiday region in South Tyrol. Never heard of the small apple-growing village of Gargazon? Well, that’s because it is something of an insider's tip! The name KOMODO comes from the Italian word “comodo” (comfortable, convenient) and signifies that everything is comfy, well-kept and homely here. And because here we have long bike rides, walks, mountain hikes, swimming, shopping trips and skiing adventures right outside our camper van doors. CLOSE TO NATURE AND WELL CONNECTED Our KOMODO Camping in Gargazon is in the perfect spot for adventurous campers. Whether you're passing through or come here for a longer stay – even at night time we’re easy to find, right by the MEBO exit between Bolzano and Merano. The idyllic village centre of Gargazon is only a couple of minutes’ walk from our camping ground. You can find lots of useful services and enjoyable things to do here: from the camper service and supermarket to the delicatessen and bakery through to a shoe shop, pizzeria, snack bar and organic restaurant. The chemical-free Gargazon natural outdoor pool, apple trail, tennis courts with bar, skating park, Gargazon bus and train station with connections to the state capital of Bolzano (21 km) and the spa town of Merano (11 km) and everything in between are only a stone’s throw away from our camp site.

About the region

In Meran and Environs, you might just feel as if you visited an entire continent on holiday. Vineyards and 3,000 m peaks, palm trees and Alpine roses, and mountain farm houses with contemporary architecture, the list of contrasting aspects is as impressive as the myriad opportunities available on holiday here.

Meran and Environs is a region of contrasts. The craggy, impressive 3,000 m peaks of the Texelgruppe, the largest nature park in South Tyrol/Südtirol, form the backdrop of Meran, a city boasting Mediterranean flair, a grand spa and imperial pomp & circumstance. Don’t be surprised to see apples, wine, and even palm trees growing behind the protective wall formed by the Texelgruppe range. Variety, stemming from the fertile climate, makes holidays in Meran and Environs so intriguing. Head shopping or stroll the side streets. The city’s arches and Mediterranean flair will leave an impression, but so too will the magnificent views and natural beauty of the Texelgruppe peaks that beckon you to set out and explore during a hike along the Meran High Mountain Trail (Meraner Höhenweg). In the valleys of Ultental and Passeiertal, rural landscapes, old mountain farm houses and untouched nature invite you to explore another world. The sheer variety of Meran and Environs is also reflected in the architecture. View centuries-old castles and forts as well as contemporary architecture coexisting side by side.
