Hotel description
Attention: after an enquiry, please also check your spam inbox. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wild idyll: The old mountain farm (1163 metres above sea level) on the southern slope above Parcines is right next to the Texel Group Nature Park. It is an unrenovated and unspoilt place that has missed the developments of the last century. The secluded property is quiet and WITHOUT STREET ACCESS - suitable for retreat and recharge. You can reach it ONLY ON FOOT via an unpaved hiking trail through the forest in about 30 minutes (further information see below). A simple MATERIAL ROPEWAY/ CABLE CAR (wooden box) FOR LUGGAGE and food purchases is available at the parking lot. The place used to be a spa against rheumatism and malaria due to excellent water sources (6 degrees). The drinking water is uncontaminated and of very high quality. Except in summer sheep graze on the natural meadows also directly around the house. The house is not renovated (built in 1844) and the furnishings are very simple and rustic. You will not find the sterility and comfort of a modern building, but originality, perhaps comparable to a small alpine farm. The BEDROOMS are UNHEATED, but south-facing. The climate is mild mostly in autumn and even into winter. In case of bad weather there is access to a warm parlor. Kitchen and bathroom are also shared with other guests, as well as with the owners who live in the house. There is electricity and hot water. The GUESTS SUPPLY THEIRSELVES. (Basic things like salt, a few spices, vinegar and some oil are provided). We recommend shopping on the day of arrival, which can be transported with the luggage via the material railway. Other train rides can be used by prior arrangement. (Small donation for expenses and maintenance is welcome). The RED and BLUE ROOMS are connected by a DOOR. (Access also separately from the corridor.) This is normally locked and can be unlocked when booking both rooms. The beds in the blue and green rooms can be moved together if desired. We live without television. Internet reception via mobile data or cell phone network/5G network work reasonably well. The place appeals mainly to lovers of unspoiled and wild nature, ornithologists, artists and people looking for retreat, tranquility or even a little adventure. The property is located right next to the Texel Group Nature Park and is surrounded by woods. Hiking trails run from here. In 1.5 hours uphill you can reach the inn 'Hochganghaus' with shelter on the Merano high trail. The village is an hour's walk downhill. There are small grocery stores and many restaurants and refreshment stops. It has about 2000 inhabitants. From here there are buses to Vinschgau and Merano (25 minutes). Attention: The farm is located in wild, mountainous terrain. Good shoes and surefootedness are necessary! Supervision of children is also difficult. We recommend arriving BY CAR, as there are no buses from the edge of the village of Parcines at the latest, and it is easier to transport shopping. Parking is possible on a free area (meadow) after the asphalt end. There the hiking trail begins (approx. 30 minutes, 190 meters altitude difference). The path requires surefootedness - sturdy hiking shoes are an advantage! Arrival BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT: By train or Flixbus to Merano. From there, take bus number 213 to the final stop "Parkdeck" in Partschins. Afterwards you can either continue by cab, which has to be organized in advance (prices vary!). Or if you are a sporty walker, you can make the 560 meter ascent. This can be shortened slightly: 2 times in the morning and 3 times in the afternoon a minibus takes you to the edge of the village to an inn. From there it is about 420 meters in altitude. You can also take a taxi to shorten the journey, or if we can arrange it, we will also be happy to take you with our car. However, the last 180 meters in altitude must always be done on foot. The path requires surefootedness - sturdy hiking boots are an advantage! YOU ONLY WANT TO STAY 1 OR 2 NIGHTS? Normally the minimum stay is 3 nights, as the general effort for us and for you to get here is somewhat higher than in the village. However, we do make exceptions in certain cases: In the low season (until the beginning/middle of June and from the middle/end of October) we are also happy to book 2 nights in advance for you in the calendar. If there are gaps between the longer bookings in the high season, we will also be happy to accept your enquiry. Unfortunately, we cannot provide the material cable car for enquiries for just one night. PRICES 2024: 1 person 1 night = 47 Euro 2 nights (per night) = 42 Euro from 3 nights (per night) = 32 Euro 2 persons 1 night = 74 Euro 2 nights (per night) = 64 Euro from 3 nights (per night) = 54 Euro

About the region

In Meran and Environs, you might just feel as if you visited an entire continent on holiday. Vineyards and 3,000 m peaks, palm trees and Alpine roses, and mountain farm houses with contemporary architecture, the list of contrasting aspects is as impressive as the myriad opportunities available on holiday here.

Meran and Environs is a region of contrasts. The craggy, impressive 3,000 m peaks of the Texelgruppe, the largest nature park in South Tyrol/Südtirol, form the backdrop of Meran, a city boasting Mediterranean flair, a grand spa and imperial pomp & circumstance. Don’t be surprised to see apples, wine, and even palm trees growing behind the protective wall formed by the Texelgruppe range. Variety, stemming from the fertile climate, makes holidays in Meran and Environs so intriguing. Head shopping or stroll the side streets. The city’s arches and Mediterranean flair will leave an impression, but so too will the magnificent views and natural beauty of the Texelgruppe peaks that beckon you to set out and explore during a hike along the Meran High Mountain Trail (Meraner Höhenweg). In the valleys of Ultental and Passeiertal, rural landscapes, old mountain farm houses and untouched nature invite you to explore another world. The sheer variety of Meran and Environs is also reflected in the architecture. View centuries-old castles and forts as well as contemporary architecture coexisting side by side.
