Dipped in the Val Passiria valley at an altitude of 1400 metres, family-run Gasthaus Prennanger is 15 km from Scena. Featuring Alpine-style rooms and restaurant, it also offers free mountain bikes. Open throughout the day, the Prennanger’s restaurant serves South Tyrol specialities. The buffet breakfast featuring fresh juices, cold cuts and homemade cakes and jams can be sampled also on the panoramic terrace. Rooms at Gasthaus Prennanger have traditional décor and face the valley. Each includes a satellite TV and a private bathroom with shower while most of them also boast a balcony. Guests can enjoy stunning views of the mountains in the garden while having a drink from the bar and sitting on 1 of its free sun loungers. Hiking tours around the Hirzer Plateau are organised by the local tourism board. Sport lovers and paragliders can board the Hirzer cablecar's intermediate station, just 100 metres from the hotel. Meran is 20 km away.

About the region

Meran and environs region is full of surprising contrasts. In spring, you can ski in the morning on the Schnalstal glacier and cycle through apple orchards in the afternoon. While the peaks are still white, you can sit in the sun among palm trees and arcades along the Passer river. The mild climate, protected by the Texel group, fosters diverse and lush nature. The gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle showcase the elegance of yesteryear, alongside the thermal baths and Belle Époque buildings.
