Description

Arrive, take a deep breath and feel at home: at Prairerhof, living South Tyrolean tradition meets genuine family hospitality and the unique atmosphere of a historic farm in the heart of Schenna. Our farm has been run by the Mair family for five generations and is first documented as early as 1401. Surrounded by vineyards, plenty of green space and with magnificent views of Merano and the surrounding mountains, Prairerhof is a special place where nature and village life come together naturally. The day begins with a delicious breakfast in our cosy Tyrolean parlour. A regional buffet, homemade delicacies and products from our own farm provide the energy for an active day outdoors. Thanks to our central location and excellent connections, many excursions, hiking trails and Merano itself can be reached comfortably without a car. After a day full of experiences, our garden invites you to relax and enjoy some time for yourself. The pool provides refreshment during the warmer months, while the year-round heated whirlpool offers soothing moments of relaxation. Surrounded by vineyards, our Swiss stone pine sauna is a special place to slow down, unwind and recharge your batteries. Whether you are looking for outdoor activities or simply some peace and quiet, travelling as a couple, with friends or with the family – at Prairerhof everyone can find their own space. Covered parking, EV charging stations, a bicycle storage area with charging facilities, Wi-Fi, a guest kitchen and our Trust-Bar complete the experience. Prairerhof is not a traditional hotel, but a personal, family-run bed and breakfast with history and character. A place to arrive, reconnect with yourself, switch off and recharge your energy – in the heart of Schenna and yet surrounded by nature.

About the region

Meran and environs region is full of surprising contrasts. In spring, you can ski in the morning on the Schnalstal glacier and cycle through apple orchards in the afternoon. While the peaks are still white, you can sit in the sun among palm trees and arcades along the Passer river. The mild climate, protected by the Texel group, fosters diverse and lush nature. The gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle showcase the elegance of yesteryear, alongside the thermal baths and Belle Époque buildings. The valleys around Meran are full of paths, waterfalls and traditions, just waiting to be discovered. And if you love horses, a ride on a Haflinger is the way to go.
