More than 250 churches grace South Tyrol’s rural and urban landscape. Churches surrounded by fantastic landscapes, such as those found in Funes/Villnöss, Fiè allo Sciliar/Völs am Schlern, or the Vigiljoch mountain attract hundreds of pilgrims and cultural travellers each year. Such visitors will be exposed to a diverse variety of building materials, construction methods and styles created during 900 years of service to Christianity. Relics of the Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque periods may be seen and visited throughout the year in South Tyrol.
