MAGDALENA, MA DAI - Theatre play in German

500 years ago, Michael Gaismair fought for justice and participation in the Tyrolean Peasants' War. Naturally, women also played a role in the course of events: many, including Magdalena Gaismair, actively and behind the scenes participated in the uprisings. However, in the relatively few sources from this period, women are scarcely mentioned. Already in the 16th century, what would later be repeatedly confirmed applied: in the struggle for freedom, equality, and "brotherhood," women often were left with nothing but housework. Director Michaela Senn and her team are developing a play about the gaps in historical records, the everyday struggle for equality, and the power of solidarity. The theater piece was created in cooperation with Vereinigte Bühnen Bozen and the local association Vigil Raber Kuratorium and is an event of "Mitmischen! Ma come?" – a project of the City and Multscher Museum of Vipiteno as part of the Euregio Museum Year 2025, funded by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano – South Tyrol, the Municipality of Vipiteno, and private sponsors.
