Light–air–mountain - Kunst im Gang[e]

The exhibition shows a central thematic area to which Ottavia Demetz devotes herself with great fascination: landscape painting in the great outdoors. For her, watercolor is the ideal technique for capturing atmospheric, moody impressions. In her works we recognize many familiar mountain views, but still the subjects seem somehow different, seen anew, rebuilt through color and texture. Using various watercolor techniques - glazing, granulation, wash - the artist achieves a subtle color and "airy" mood in the landscape paintings. Light and physicality of the rock formations play a significant role. The pictures express not only a strong soulfulness, but also a certain fleetingness of the mountain landscape.
