The pinnacle of his achievements
Mountaineering legend Reinhold Messner brings the mountain to the museum
For Reinhold Messner, his six mountain museums are the “15th eight-thousand-metre peak”, as he says. They aim to be places where visitors can encounter new things, “the mountain and also within themselves”. And all this in six breathtaking locations: in castles steeped in history and refined new buildings in the midst of spectacular mountain landscapes.
In the museums, Messner creates space for the history of traditional mountaineering (MMM Corones), of mountain peoples (MMM Ripa), of first ascents (MMM Dolomites) and for the mountain as a great unknown – as a myth (MMM Juval) and as a world of ice and darkness (MMM Ortles).
All the exhibitions are characterised by Messner's personal experiences. And he'll take you with him on an Alpine tour: with the MMM Tour Ticket, you have a year to visit all six museums once!
