Farm Holidays at the Dickenhof in Hofern A warm welcome to the Dickenhof – the traditional family farm of the Atzwanger family in Hofern! Our farm has existed since 1370 and was once a fief of the Counts of Künigl. For many generations, it has been cultivated with dedication and hard work – and today it is a modern dairy farm where tradition and progress go hand in hand. In 2005, we fulfilled a long-held dream: we lovingly renovated our two historic outbuildings – the Backhäusl (first mentioned in 1370) and the Zuhäusl (built in 1820) – and turned them into cozy holiday homes. At the same time, two further holiday apartments were created: the Bergwohnung and the Hoamatlwohnung. Eighteen years later, in 2025, another lovingly designed apartment was added – the Bauernstibele. Our farm is located in a small hamlet in Hofern, peaceful and sunny, offering a breathtaking panoramic view over Falzes, Issengo, the Puster Valley, and the Dolomites. Those seeking true relaxation – away from noise and stress – will find here a place of peace, surrounded by idyllic forests and nature. Farmer Maria takes heartfelt care of our guests’ well-being. With body and soul, she also works daily in the barn alongside her son Rudolf, who now manages the farm with great commitment. Together with her late husband Johann – with whom she shared a loving and happy marriage – she shaped the character of the Dickenhof. Sadly, Johann passed away in 2019 after an illness, but his work and passion continue to live on through his family and the farm. Cows, hens, and pigs have always belonged to life on the Dickenhof. What once began with 20 cows, 5 pigs, and 20 hens has, through dedication and hard work, grown into a successful farm. Today, young farmer Rudolf looks after his dairy cows, pigs, and hens with care and enthusiasm.
