About the region

Plenty of sunshine and the spectacular Dolomites draw visitors to South Tyrol/Südtirol's Eggental region region, nestled between the Rosengarten and Latemar massifs. A vast network of hiking trails, beautiful natural features such as the Karer See lake and the Obereggen and Carezza ski areas make holidays here truly enchanting.

Holidaymakers will find 600 km of mountain biking routes and 530 km of hiking trails in what is South Tyrol's densest network of trails. Eggental region also boasts 90 km of ski slopes, at Obereggen and Carezza, in addition to 100 km of cross-country skiing trails. Above and beyond the wide array of recreational options, the valley offers dreamlike mountain panoramas between the Rosengarten and Latemar massifs: ever-present splendour whether hiking, cycling or playing golf. Eggental region has two golf courses situated at an elevation of more than 1,200 m: Carezza and Monte San Pietro/Petersberg. Down in the valley, meanwhile, visitors stroll around idyllic mountain villages enjoying the authentic feel, ancient rustic farms and quaint inns. The proximity of South Tyrol's capital city, Bolzano/Bozen, makes even a day trip worthwhile. Eggental region is also home to one of South Tyrol's cultural highlights: the Maria Weißenstein monastery is South Tyrol's most important pilgrimage site.
