Even in the late Middle Ages, the Amplatz 1523 was a central point on Montan’s village square. Today, around 500 years later, that hasn’t changed. The main house and its annexes are part of Montan’s iconic landscape – just like the mountain peaks are part of South Tyrol – and your feel-good retreat for a dream vacation. The Amplatz 1523 consists of three buildings surrounding a blooming inner courtyard. In the Main House and Garden Residence, you’ll find cozy rooms, while the Jordan House hosts our new apartment-suites. The greatest treasure in our estate, right on Montan’s village square? Without a doubt, the Tyrolean farmhouse parlor from the 15th century! History becomes tangible here. Whether you’re enjoying a hearty breakfast, playing cards, or planning your next adventure – this historic room is a place to gather and retreat.

Mathilde Amplatz, lovingly called Tilla by her friends, was a passionate primary school teacher in Montan. During the Fascist era, she lost her teaching position but continued educating her students in secret locations which were known as the “catacomb schools”. Today, Tilla’s former classroom is home to a unique holiday apartment, featuring authentic antique furniture and the unmistakable charm of South Tyrolean history. Our apartment suites have a private sauna.

Jordan, once a master carpenter in Montan, purchased this house for himself and his family. He secretly recorded his life story on the undersides of the floorboards and at the backs of wooden wall panels throughout his home. Over a century later, these hidden notes were rediscovered during our renovation works. Where once Master Carpenter Jordan lived and worked, you’ll now find one of the most exclusive holiday apartments on Montan’s village square. Our apartment suites have a private sauna.

Maria Amplatz, affectionately called Moidl, was once known throughout Montan for her sewing skills. She lived in a time before fashion giants like Zara, H&M, or Mango. A time when clothing was handmade, tailored to fit, and crafted to last for years. In the apartment-suite Moidl’s Tailor Shop, photos and accessories still pay homage to her legacy and life. Our apartment suites have a private sauna.

Along the Alto Adige Wine Road, spring comes earlier and autumn lingers longer. The sun warms the hills, one vineyard follows another, and the scents change with the seasons.
