Hiking and skiing with the whole family on Europe’s largest high-altitude alpine pasture
Romantic, pleasant or high-Alpine: winter hiking at Seiser Alm high-altitude alpine pasture is varied.
As soon as the first snow falls and the Dolomite massifs turn white, the Seiser Alm becomes an impressive place for winter hikes. The choice is yours: whether it is a romantic snowshoe hike through the wilderness of Tschamintal valley in Tiers/Tires, a short hike with an enjoyable stop inone of the cosy huts or a adrenaline-filled alpine tour. It is all possible on Seiser Alm- after all, covering a vast of 56 km², it is the largest alpine pasture in Europe.
More than 60 km of well-groomed winter hiking trails and about 50 km of signposted snowshoe tours lead through the immense landscape of the sunny high plateau in the middle of the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park. In addition, there are fantastic views of the Schlern, Langkofel and Plattkofel mountains. A tip for lookout points seekers: the moderate Hans and Paula Steger Trail leads to the most stunning viewpoints of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site where exciting information boards about the natural landscape ca be found.
