Exhibition "PLEASE, COULD YOU STOP THE NOISE?" by Maurizio Ciancia

Sëlva/Selva di Val Gardena, Dolomites Region Val Gardena
from center
The exhibition reflects the current phase of Maurizio Ciancia’s artistic work since 2016. The theme of his work is the personal search for “emptiness,” understood as an intimate dimension where one can find order, balance, and silence – practically a counterpoint to the excesses of everyday life. To express this concept of emptiness, Ciancia uses the metaphor of space. The subjects of his photographs are therefore architectural contexts, reproduced through a precise linguistic scheme that has taken shape over the years in the development of this project. The exhibition space itself plays an important role. The clean lines create an ideal context for presenting the works and support the linguistic intention of creating a unique installation framework in which the visitor can feel physically immersed. A space that represents an extension of the idea of space that Maurizio Ciancia intends to share with his photographs. The generous rooms have also made it possible to integrate a small selection of works from the early stages of this creative period, installations from 2017. The aim is to share the evolution of vision and language that has taken place over these years – from the beginning until today. The ground floor features works created between 2020 and 2023, while the first floor is entirely dedicated to works produced in 2025. The prints are by Stefano Ciol. The exhibition also includes a corner dedicated to the projection of a video created as part of “Narrazioni Spaziali,” an event organized by MAKE Spazio Espositivo and exhibited at Studio GEZA Architettura. The sequence of images is accompanied by sound compositions by Luca Colussi. Opening hours: Daily from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Closed on Mondays

    Everything you need to know

Coming from the south, it is best to exit the Brenner motorway (A 22) at the Bolzano Nord exit and continue along state road 12 to Ponte Gardena, where you turn right onto the bridge and tunnel leading to Val Gardena. After 20 kilometres you reach Selva di Val Gardena. Continue along the main road and turn left at the Hotel Oswald. Here you have two possibilities; simply park your car in the public car park or continue for another 50 metres turning right to the Istitut Ladin and library. You can park your car with a parking disc for 30 minutes. Just below the square is the "Tublà da Nives", which can be reached right up to the entrance - for loading and unloading purposes - even by car.
