      The lively and elegant Merano’s Old Town is a succession of great medieval and belle époque architecture, such as the Puccini Theatre. Steinach is the oldest quarter of the city and is home to particularly atmospheric arches and alleyways, as well as new, modern buildings such as the Terme Merano. The city offers true relaxation areas, such as green terraces directly overlooking the Passer River. Merano is particularly popular for its green spaces: with 18 kilometers of walking trails and 16 hectares of parkland, it is a veritable “city of garden” with Central European charm. In the center, numerous walks begin, which already impressed Princess Sissi during her frequent stays in Merano. A few kilometers from the historic center, you can visit the Touriseum, the first museum on the history of tourism in South Tyrol, not far from the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, an avant-garde botanical garden full of colors and scents. Merano is also home to the Women's Museum, where you can admire Europe's most extensive collection of women's clothing and accessories from the period between 1820 and 1990, and a synagogue that has now become the Jewish Museum. You can also taste typical South Tyrolean products of the highest quality: top quality wines, traditionally grown apples bearing the PGI label, mountain milk and the renowned Speck Alto Adige PGI. Kunsthaus Meran is a 500-m² exhibition area spread across several levels, connected by stairs and walkways. It hosts art and architecture exhibitions and emphasizes the artistic flair of the city.
