At the Oberbrunnhof in Quadrat, Caroline Abler and Manuel Laimer sell home-made products and substantial delicacies. Both attach great importance to quality and rarity and have dared to take the step towards self-sufficiency for the sake of agriculture. The farm is home to cows (Tyrolean grey cattle), pigs and chickens. The animals are processed and refined by Manuel himself: in addition to fresh meat there is also home-made Speck. The milk is delivered to the "Sennerei Algund" dairy. The Oberbrunnhof's range of products is expanded with the traditional Paarlbrot from the wood-fired oven (every Saturday; on order). Delicious jams, honey and homemade cheese complete the range. Caroline and Manuel provide their guests with healthy, home-made products directly from the farm.
"Griasst enk, we are Caroline & Manuel!"
Caroline Abler grew up on the Niederhof farm and has worked on her parents' farm since she was a child. Her father taught her traditional Tyrolean cuisine and her mother taught her "Kropfn mochen" (making Krapfen - jam doughnuts) according to her grandmother's secret recipe.
Her path then led her to enter the hotel and restaurant industry for the first time, until she met her future husband Manuel Laimer and moved in with him to Oberbrunnhof.
Manuel took over his grandmother's farm at the age of 18 and has been cultivating it with great diligence ever since. Gradually, he worked hard to adapt and renovate the farm to the current conditions. For example, the "old" holiday home, which once belonged to the Oberbrunnhof farm, was rebuilt in 2017. Caroline and Manuel have been offering farm holidays since 2018, because they consider it important for them to combine agriculture and tourism.
Together with their three children Leo, Leni and Michl there is always something to do at the Oberbrunnhof. Once a week the tasks are clearly divided: Manuel bakes bread with the help of a family member and Caroline makes and bakes the farmers' doughnuts that are sold. In winter Manuel uses the time to make sausages and in summer Caroline transforms the fruit into delicious spreads and syrups. The products of Oberbrunnhof are produced with great care and love and guarantee freshness, regionality and quality.
In our family distillery, we transform the very best of ingredients from South Tyrol into the heights of excellence. Pears from Marling, stone pine from the Villandro Alp and pomace from the vineyards around Merano. Over the past 75 years, we have become experts in the art of distilling. Having brought this experience together with a sensitive touch and love for experiments, we create spirits that are overflowing with charisma. Their quality begins with the fruit tree, the vineyard and the herb garden. And from this point onwards we accompany our ingredients with a vigilant eye, right up to the moment it goes into the bottle. With our manual work and constant monitoring, quality is always at the forefront of our minds. Because it is the subtle nuances that give our brandies, spirits and liqueurs their character.
In 1947 Ignaz Unterthurner produced the first spirits in the Priami Manor in Marling. Stephan and his wife Renate have now brought our story into its third generation. We have modernised it with the greatest of sensitivity and care. Everything that we distil in the clear glass cube is available in our atmospheric vaulted shop. Our range counts over 60 spirits, in all categories: brandies, liqueurs, grappa, digestifs, gin and rum. We have not yet exhausted all the possibilities of distilling. We remain curious.

Visitors to the breathtaking Merano valley can enjoy the unique beauty of a place where nature and a masterful human touch come together to create extraordinary harmony.
Just outside Merano, on the way to the Val Venosta a Lagundo, a complex of buildings perfectly in keeping with their surroundings catches the eye. They are decorated in a graceful, highly tasteful manner and almost blend in with the flourishing local vegetation. Anyone who is curious enough to ask the name of this “village” – because that is what it looks like at first sight – will simply receive the answer “That’s FORST”. It is not called the “beer factory” or the “brewery”, but “FORST”. The name is inherently linked with the local area. It stands for tradition and love for nature, but also striving to ensure that the quality of its products remains consistently high. Traditional and modern values go hand in hand, making positive contributions to each other: this is the guiding concept of FORST.
The visits of the FORST Brewery are held every Wednesday from April to October at 14.00 o’clock in German language and every Thursday from June to September always at 14.00 in Italian. There is no guided tour available i English. Participation is possible by prior telephone arrangement at 0039 0473 260111. There is also a shop in the brewery, where you can buy souvenirs.

A small vineyard comprises the cultivation of the Vernatsch grape, as well as the Weissburgunder and Cabernet Sauvignon. The harvest is processed into tasty products.

In our herb gardens - the mountain herb garden in St. Magdalena at 1400 metres above sea level and the show herb garden in St. Valentin - old and new knowledge about the recognition and use of wild aromatic and medicinal herbs is brought back to life. Around 150 different, mainly native plant species thrive in our herb garden.
In guided tours, the herb specialist teaches interested visitors the identification of wild herbs and their use in cooking and folk medicine.
Our herbs are only fertilised and treated organically; due to the altitude, the plants develop high-quality secondary ingredients.
The herbs are air-dried on wooden shelves, placed in breathable sacks and only cut, mixed and bottled when needed. The blossoms are collected individually and gently dried so that the magnificent colours are preserved. Everything is handmade!
Visits possible by appointment only.
The Bruggerhof is located in the middle of orchards and vineyards. Due to its hilly location, you have a wonderful view of Merano, the surrounding mountains and the entire Adige Valley. The Gamper family has been running the Bruggerhof for over 100 years. After a long-standing passion for the production of liqueurs, they have started selling them on the farm since 2020. In the former cattle barn, which was converted into a tasting room, you can taste and enjoy the fruity and aromatic liqueurs (appointment by telephone).
