Kunst Meran Merano Arte hosts AlpiTypes, dedicated to the contemporary reinterpretation and connection between lettering, typographic design and lettering painting. The exhibition focuses on applied graphics developed in the first half of the 20th century in the area currently corresponding to South Tyrol, Tyrol and Trentino. Curated by Antonino Benincasa, Massimo Martignoni and Anna Zinelli, AlpiTypes is based on the in-depth research conducted by Benincasa and Martignoni on local graphics. A group of students from the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano, Faculty of Design and Art, accompanied by Antonino Benincasa, reinterpreted historical typefaces from incomplete alphabets, which at the time were often made by hand, integrating the missing characters, revealing how the original typographic concept was inspired by European stylistic currents such as Bauhaus, Rationalism, the Wiener Secession, Constructivism and the Arts and Crafts movement. The project is enhanced by the involvement of international graphic designers, who use the fonts to create contemporary typographic posters.
The work highlights a quality and topicality of graphic design in the area that is still almost unknown.
Franz Wanner's first Italian solo exhibition, curated by Kristina Kreutzwald and Martina Oberprantacher, traces his complex artistic research. Using photography, video, words and objects, the artist investigates the past, focusing on the war industry and the use of forced labour in the context of National Socialism, and its effects on society in the present, bringing to light omissions that have been perpetuated over time. For this exhibition, Franz Wanner has also carried out some specific research on the South Tyrolean context and the use of forced labour during the period of the ‘Zone of Operations in the Pre-Alps’, i.e. when the Province of Bolzano was annexed to Nazi Germany.

South Tyrol's alpine cuisine has a long-standing tradition. It originated in the simple fare of mountain farmers, who used only ingredients produced on their own farms. Life on a mountain farm was physically demanding, so meals had to be especially hearty and filling. Today, these down-to-earth dishes have become well known far beyond South Tyrol's borders – while still remaining deeply rooted in local tradition.
Together with farmer Rosina, you'll prepare the " Muas" – a traditional farmer’s dish from the region, cooked according to an old family recipe. This is where the robust, time-honored art of South Tyrolean cooking comes alive once again.
Walking time: approx. 1.5 h | Difference in altitude: approx. 120 m
The event will be in German and Italian.
A hiking adventure to discover South Tyrol's mountains and get to know this unique, enchanting, panoramic world better.
Registration required in the tourist information office by 5 pm on the previous day. Limited number of participants.

Innkeepers, farmers, artisans and artists all proffer their wares on Raiffeisenplatz market square, so there’s plenty to see.

An ex-marketing manager runs his estate winery as a factory
Heiner Pohl calls his Marinushof in Castelbello “an agricultural start-up enterprise.” And the description comes not by chance. For two reasons: first of all, it originates from a former marketing manager who, secondly, built the estate winery out of nothing.
The product line of the Marinushof consists of varieties that feel right at home in the Val Venosta: Pinot Noir, Zweigelt, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Grigio. “Our wines are characterized by harmony and naturalness, and they age very well,” says the winegrower. And for all those who are perhaps not so familiar with wine vocabulary: “These wines make you most prefer to drink the whole bottle without stopping.”

Gambe di legno Consort was founded in 2001 by Paolo Zuccheri, Francesco Galligioni and Francesco Baroni. The aim of the project was to create an instrumental ensemble dedicated to the vast repertoire for the viola da gamba, ranging from solo pieces for viola to a ‘consort’ with several instruments. The ensemble is regularly invited to perform in concert series focussing on the performance and rediscovery of composers whose works are often unjustly neglected in libraries and archives. Gambe di legno is also active through collaborations with museums and cultural centres to create a strong link between the arts and make them accessible.

In Italian: A comedian in therapy with his psychologist and two trusty musicians - who act as his live soundtrack both in life and on stage - confesses his dark sides and honours the fictional memory and legacy of his masters. All in front of his audience.
A leading comedian par excellence, Paolo Rossi has for forty years ranged from clubs to large stages, from traditional theatre to cabaret, from television to the circus tent: everywhere he proposes his personal way of “making a show” which, while immersing himself in the themes of today, never disregards the teachings of the ancient and modern classics, from Shakespeare to Moliere to Brecht and the much-loved Commedia dell'Arte.
In this new version of the satirical Operaccia Rossi improvises his past, to remind himself of his and others' present. With the proceeds he will pay the psychologist, as well as other debts for various and sundry issues in these difficult times. ‘The satirical operettas are extravagant creations that arise from various inspirations: the reading of great literary classics that are transformed into funny compositions, episodes ’stolen" from lived life and from my personal repertoire then reworked and transformed into comic poems that, thanks to the musical accompaniment, turn into a popular song. The language is incorrect, varied, full of mispronunciations, strange words and suggestions, but easily understood by all. They remain fundamentally stories: we strive to tell them as best we can.
By and with Paolo Rossi. With Caterina Gabanella and with musicians Emanuele Dell'Aquila, Alex Orciari.
