When late November fills the air of Molini di Tures with the scent of roasted chestnuts and mulled wine, the Saint Catherine Market brings the village to life. The traditional fair transforms the streets into a scene of music, dance, craftsmanship, and regional flavours such as cheese, speck, and honey. Among the most popular delicacies are Melchamuis, a sweet, creamy blend of milk, flour, and butter, and Schöttina Kropfn, crispy fried pastries filled with poppy seeds or chestnuts. People meet, chat, laugh, and enjoy the festive atmosphere together.
What is now a beloved village celebration has deep roots: as early as the 17th century, farmers and craftsmen gathered here to sell their goods. Even today, the reading of the ancient market decree in Benjamin Square brings the past to life – a moment when history can be felt and tradition continues to thrive.
The St. Catherine market moves into the streets of Schluderns again. This year, there will be lots of music, regional and organic products at the nice farmers' market, as well as a petting zoo on the town hall square!
