    Genussmanufaktur Walcher
    The South Tyrolean Wine Road

At the Turmbachhof in Appiano (built around 1190 and formerly the residence of the court clerk), our family has been involved for nine generations in the production and processing of foodstuffs, which originally came mainly from the cultivation of our own land. The wine, for example, has always been pressed from the own grapes. A mother of vinegar was made with particular care in porphyry, which gave the vinegar a special vitality. In 1966, Alfons Walcher built a distillery at the Turmbachhof, whose products today are distributed successfully in five continents. Committed to the tradition of superior taste and following their professional passion, in 2017 the Walcher brothers decided to set up their own gourmet food factory in Caldaro. The aim of the new branch is reviving old recipes with new technology and expressing the unique taste of South Tyrol‘s South. In order to achieve this goal, the family relies above all on organically grown raw materials and gentle processing avoiding any additives.

    Weissenhof apple juice
Terlan/Terlano, The South Tyrolean Wine Road
The Weissenhof in Vilpian is an old farm that has been growing apples for over 700 years. The production of apple juice began in 1984, rather by chance for family needs. First the neighbors were also interested, then various bars and hotels in the area. Today the naturally turbid apple juice is sold beyond the country's borders. The range has been expanded to include various apple-fruit juices, vinegar and the apple-mulled mix, popular in winter. The production facilities were refined and adapted to the times. Only hand-picked apples are used for the apple juice, no windfalls. The juice is gently pasteurized, not filtered and is free from additives.

Tramin an der Weinstraße/Termeno sulla Strada del Vino, The South Tyrolean Wine Road

The history of the Psenner Distillery is indelibly characterised by that of the company's founder, Ludwig Psenner, born in 1920 in the famous South Tyrolean wine village of Tramin, the place which has given its name to the world's favourite aromatic grape variety, Gewürztraminer. Ludwig Psenner's life story is one of a straightforward and sincere man who emanated a catching vigour. At an early age he threw himself into the craft of distilling, delving into the recondite processes and mysteries involved. Then at the age of 27 he founded his own distillery, installing his first bain marie still.

The hilly countryside of Mazzon is, without doubt, the best terrain for Blauburgunder in the whole of the southern Tirol. An island of vines 300 to 450 meters above the left banks of the river Etsch it is protected from above by the crest of the 'Königswiese' mountain which provides shade over the whole area long after the sun has risen. Indeed, the microclimate created by the rapid temperature changes between the cool mornings and the long sunny afternoons and evenings is ideal for the vines.

Our wines are: Pinot Nero Riserva, Lagrein, Gewürztraminer.
