The four seasons

Why does South Tyrol appeal all year round? Perhaps it is because of the variety offered by summer, winter, spring and autumn ? Because nature in the mountains and in the valleys is constantly changing and captivating? Because of our ancient customers and unadulterated traditions which are kept alive, year on year? Or because of the wide range of exercise on offer with hiking, climbing, skiing, cycling or cross-country skiing? Perhaps you prefer our unique combination of down-to-earth Alpine and light Mediterranean cuisine? You decide what you fancy!

Our accommodation tips

Wake up where you feel best: in a cosy bed on holiday at a farm, in a designer hotel in the lively city, in a secluded Alpine chalet or in a lively family hotel.

Spring in South Tyrol

We South Tyroleans are thrilled for the awakening of nature: we get our bikes out of the garage and plant colourful gardens. Are you a spring person too?

Your spring holiday can be as diverse as you want it to be. After putting your ski boots on, you can walk on a Waalwege canal trail past blossoming apple trees. But you can't call it a day yet. Wait until it'll be evening, and you'll be outside drinking an aperitivo in the warm spring air. Although South Tyrol is a small region, it combines at different altitudes and temperatures, urban charm and alpine silence. Come cycling, skiing, hiking or strolling. South Tyrol has it all.

Summer in South Tyrol

Get the best tips for your summer holiday in the mountains. It's that time of the year when you can take a deep breath, draw new plans and switch off.

That's how you can live an unforgettable summer. Alpine pastures, mountain huts, canal trails, peaks and the "Pale Mountains". Your hiking boots are finally out of your closet and cleaned from the dust of your last summer hike. Castles, forts, vineyards, bike tours and swimming lakes. The book you are engrossed in is covered in water drops and hand-picked flowers. Museums, Nature parks, far-flung valleys, quiet villages, bustling cities, exclusive wellness hotel deals. Your to-do list will fall by the wayside while you'll be sipping an aperitivo at a bar. That's why we say "il dolce far niente" - a pleasant idleness. A summit tour it's your next adventure. But now take some time to relax.

Autumn in South Tyrol

The days are getting shorter but are no less beautiful. Nature has given its all, the air is cooler and the sun is still warm. Now is the time to enjoy.

Have you yet to experience the colours of South Tyrol in autumn? We love this time: at no other time of year is the sun lower, the light softer and the outlines more vivid.

Now we go hiking and biking again through the colourful forests and green meadows, now we often share Waalwege canal trails, paths, summit crosses and refuges with just the locals. Treats are served up in the farmhouse taverns as part of "Törggelen", the South Tyrolean harvest tradition: chestnuts, apples, Speck smoked ham, Alpine cheese, new wines and fresh vegetables from the meadows. The autumn ambience is opulent.

Wintertime in South Tyrol

Wide pistes, fast bends, deep snowy forests and perfect cross-cross-country skiing trails: winter outdoors is beautiful in South Tyrol.

Winter and walking and wide-ranging views. They belong together here. What do you love about the cold season? The crunchy powder snow beneath your touring skis? The powder snow with its good grip where you can practise your turns? The firn snow of early spring which sparkles over the mountains?

There is so much to see, touch and taste: parallel tracks in the snow on a perfectly prepared cross-country skiing trail. The first snow shoe footprints in the deep snowy meadows. The down-to-earth, sweet taste of a buckwheat cake. The fragrance of mountain pine in the warm sauna. The welcoming lights of the Christmas market.

What does your winter in South Tyrol look like?
