Barely a hundred years ago, a village existed here. In order to create a hydroelectric reservoir, Reschen/Resia and Graun were flooded. The bell tower is immutable and it emerges from the water. Today, the lake in the Vinschgau/ Val Venosta valley is a meeting place for kitesurfers. Moreover, the Netflix series Curon was filmed here.

Seiser Alm

Europe’s largest high alpine pasture, it is also a Nature Park and meeting place for sports enthusiasts

It is not surprising that witches once chose the area around the Hochalm high alpine pasture and the majestic Schlern mountain for their nocturnal gatherings. An unconventional atmosphere and - above all - the view of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage up here for good. How to experience them to the fullest? On foot or by mountain bike.

More high alpine pastures

At high-altitude, vast and full of panoramic views: such places are easy to find in South Tyrol. There is, for example, the Plätzwiese high plateau in the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park, the Villanderer Alm high above the Eisacktal valley or the Rodenecker and Lüsner Alm above Brixen/Bressanone.
