      The symbol of Vipiteno is the 46-metre-high Zwölferturm tower, which has connected the old town with the new town since 1472. Next to it, you can visit the splendid Sterzing City Hall, built between 1468 and 1473 and in whose courtyard you will find a stele of the god Mithras and a Roman milestone. In the southern part of the city, you can visit the Multscher Museum and the Municipal Museum. The Multscher Museum houses the valuable late Gothic altar panels, built by Hans Multscher of Ulm for the parish church of Vipiteno. Part of the building is home to the Municipal Museum, which tells the history of the town and its crafts. Some of the most historically important and magnificent castles in South Tyrol are located just a stone’s throw from the city. Wolfsthurn Castle, the only baroque castle in South Tyrol, houses the State Museum of Hunting and Fishing. Reifenstein Castle, perched on a rocky hill not far from the center, is an interesting example of a medieval fortress with perfectly maintained rooms, and a little higher up are the two separate buildings of Castle Pietra.
