Water Light Festival in Brixen/Bressanone

"Water is life - light is art" is the motto of the Brixen Water Light Festival. From April 24 to May 12, unique installations lighten up the town of Brixen and its famous Neustift Monastery.

Brixen Water Light Festival not only highlights visual art, but also revolves around some of the most-discussed topics such as sustainability, mindfulness, diversity and untouched nature. Water and light are turned into an effective means of communication having a universal language and bridging different cultures.

On your tour through the old town of Brixen, you can discover 15 wonderful light art pieces by national and international artists in different settings. Marvel at hand-crafted illuminations, interactive installations and immersive light and video exhibits, revealing buildings and their interiors in a new light.

Apart from three installations, you can see light art pieces from 9 pm to midnight until the end of the festival. The printed festival guide plan and online map help you find your way around the site and plan your individual tour. Do you want the best festival experience? We recommend you book a guided tour, taking place everyday at 9.30 pm from the ticket counter on Hofburgplatz. Advance online reservation is required.

Light art in Kloster Neustift Monastery

This year's edition of the Water Light Festival is once again taking place at the Neustift Monastery. The exhibition is dedicated to 19 artists working with light and digital media to promote a dialogue between cultural heritage and contemporary art. It's open to the public during the musem opening hours and it's entitled "NOTATIONEN". It addresses critical challenges like climate change and it'll be extended until June 29 for the first time and can be experienced on your own with the museum ticket and a programme plan or with an exclusive guided tour. Advance booking is required.
