This winter hike takes you from Vals to the picturesque Fane Alm, one of South Tyrol's most beautiful alpine meadows. With its rustic log cabins and the Chapel of Mary, Fane Alm offers a unique atmosphere. The trail begins in Vals and leads you past the Kurzkofelhütte, through the idyllic winter landscape. Step by step, the charming alpine village of Fane Alm comes into view.
The Alm is situated in a sunny, sheltered mountain hollow and provides a cozy spot to rest at its welcoming hut. Please check the opening hours of the Zingerlehütte in advance to best plan your visit.
Descent: The return follows the same way as the ascent.
Relaxing hike to the rustic Malga Soy in Val Martello
Start at the Hölderele parking in Val Martello and take the path through the forest and then path no. 4 to continue on a large forest road. You then reach a very steep part with few bends. Afterwards, you get to a bridge and then there is another short ascent. Before jumping on the fresh, green meadows you have to climb the last slightly steep ascent. The rustic Malga Soy is immersed in the green at the end of the meadow.
From Antholz Mittertal (sports area) > Eggerhöfe > follow mark n. 6a to Kumpflalm > forest road n. 6b > cross the Wanzlstream > on a quite steep path to the Ochsenalm (not administered as rest stop).

It is best to take the challenging 20.5 km long tour of the Laces and Tarres Alpine pastures between early June and early October.
Growing in the Karerwald forest, the hazel tree is used especially for the production of string instruments. For this reason, the wood has also been called ‘tonewood’. You start from the Karerwald forest to walk to the popular boulder labyrinth which acquired its name from the house-sized boulders that fell during a massive landslide from the Latemar mountain long ago.

Round-trip tour from the Sam to the Griesbach valley… The Sam cabins are truly picturesque, and from there you can marvel at the panorama of the entire Ahrntal valley, from the mighty High Tauern mountains to Luttach/Lutago at the beginning of the valley. In comparison to other hiking areas, this territory is not overrun with people and even during the high season you can enjoy a hike in silence and solitude. The round-trip walk to the Sam cabins and to the Griesbach valley can be done without using your car, you can use the public bus transport instead.
Following in the footsteps of Theodor Christomannos, this hike leads to the monument in the Rosengarten, which is dedicated to his legacy. The imposing bronze eagle rises majestically against the backdrop of the Latemar.
An attractive hike around the centrepiece of the Catinaccio massif, the Roda di Vaèl. For excitement this tour is hard to beat, offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.
Attention: there are some snowfields. For accessibility, mountain experience and the appropriate equipment are required (good hiking boots, hiking poles and possibly crampons).

Tip: Very rewarding the climb to the Lutterkopf as well (2,145 m).
Park your car on the top of the Staller Saddle (2.050 m) > path n. 113 > Lake Obersee > Hinterpasslerhütte.
Alternatively from Lake Antholz > trail no. 11 > Staller Saddle > Obersee > Hinterpasslerhütte.
This is recommended during early Spring when the Alpine rose is blossoming and in Autumn when the bright yellow larch trees are reflecting in the lake.
Near the group of houses just above Grasstein (866 metres), there is an Alpine path (first # 15, then # 14) running through the steep woods up to the Puntleider Alm (1,777 metres, also Seealm, snack bar). From there, path # 14 leads you in a southerly direction to Lake Puntleiden (1,847 metres). Descend on the same route.
This high trail on the Rosengarten | Catinaccio leads to a bronze eagle, the Christomannos Monument, which commemorates Theodor Christomannos. His life's work was the extension of the famous Dolomite road from Welschnofen | Nova Levante to Cortina.
The high altitude hiking trail of Valles is a varied hike with stunning views, some secured sections, and the chance to experience the traditional alpine village of Fane Alm. Perfect for hikers seeking a mix of adventure and natural beauty.
An enjoyable round-trip walk on the Hollenzberg… The journey itself is the reward on this tour plus the many highlights. Once you have mastered the steep ascent to the Hühnerspielhütten, a wonderful clearing opens in front of you, with the picturesque Hühnerspiel huts embedded in the alpine pasture. From there you can enjoy the view reaching from the Dreiherrenspitze to the mountain ridge on the orographic lefthand side of the valley. The Wollbach valley has maintained its unique character of a high alpine pasture and the whole valley is covered in pink during the blooming of the alpine roses. Walking along the vivid glacial waters of the Wollbach, we arrive at the alpine hut bearing the same name and back to the starting point.
The Sonnenberg mountain panorama trail no. 91 (Sonnenberger Panoramaweg) connects Rabland with the neighboring village of Naturns, and offers hikers breathtaking views of the valley and the surrounding mountains and villages.
