Above the village of Jenesien, next to the sports ground, there is a large car park with charge. From here you start on foot in the direction of Gasthaus Edelweiß and continue on trail no. 1 over the larch meadows of the altopiano del salto to the Schermoos car park (approx. 5 km). From Schermoos take paths nos. 5 and 8A, go up the road past the driver's yards and to the Lanzenschuster inn.

The path is not suitable for pushchairs.
Follow hiking trail no. 12 to Meluno/Mellaun, then take trail no. 7 up to Golleregg before path no. 8, which leads back to the starting point.
Circular hike to the head of the valley in the Val Casies Valley

Trail no.1- Suitable for pushchairs. Jenesien, departure from the sportsground on trail no. 33 or trail no.1. Walk along trail no. 1 or the E5 European long-distance walking trail trough the hilly landscape offered by the Salten, to then reach the little church of St. Jacob and Langfenn. Our Hikers' bus can drive xou back to Jenesien. Duration of the excursion: 2 hours and 30 minutes - Drop/rise: 440 m
Along the way there are 12 stations, which were designed by the pupils of the local primary school. There are lots of small master pieces which were smoothly integrated into the landscape of the Salten high plateau. Each station tells you about a local fairy tale from the area of San Genesio. The stories and fairy tales about witches and similar legendary creatures have always excited the fantasy of children and adults alike. Examples of the many exciting stories are the explanation why the Castle Greifenstein is always called ”Sauerschloss“, the fairy tale of the sunken city, the endless ball of threads, the butter witch of Afing, how the Castle of Greifenstein got its name, the captured mermaid, and many more. Easy, comfortable hike at Rosskopf / Monte Cavallo near Sterzing / Vipiteno to the spring "Ferchwasser" which cures the body and the spirit.
From the Plansoler inn, the route descends along trail no. 6 down to the church and the lower road leading to Burgstall. To the right, forest road no. 12 leads to S. Andrea/St. Andrä. The way back follows along the Kreuzweg trail (signposted) northwards to Cornale/Karnol, from there ascending on trail no. 6 down a field path to Burgstall, and then back to S. Leonardo/St. Leonhard.
Ridnaun High Trail - a panoramic hike in the mining valley By the Rosskopf mountain station in Sterzing / Vipiteno in direction west to the mountain huts Kuhalm and Ochsenalm (mark 23). After the hut Ochesenalm on hike no. 23b, passing downside the summits Telfer Weissen, Wetterspitz and Seeberspitz. After 4 hours you will arrive to the mountain hut Prischeralm. Descend on trail no. 27 to Maiern/Ridnaun and return to Sterzing with the public bus (312).

Following Lüsnerstraße road (via Guggenbergstraße street, trail no. 6), turn right on the path to Trunthof farm – past the bridge to the left – northwards on the Psalmenweg trail until you reach Lüsnerstraße. From here, the trail descends to Andreas-Hofer-Brücke bridge, before ascending again to Seeburg Castle and back to Bressanone/Brixen, via the Adlerbrücke bridge on trail no. 1.
Along the hiking trail from Jenesien to Tschaufen, there is much to experience, for young and old. In the meadows along the hiking trail and in the forests you can meet different kinds of animals. There is a beautiful panorama on the plateau Tschaufen, and the the eponymous restaurant on the Salto awaits you with an extensive menu of homemade pastries and delicious cold dishes.
The Panoramaweg trail runs along the Höfeweg farms trail from St. Georg/S. Giorgio to the Antoniuskapelle chapel in Hinterafers/Eores di Dentro, across the sunny south-facing slopes of the Plose above the Afererer Tal Valley overlooking Brixen/Bressanone.

The route of the the Dolomites High Route n. 9 , unlike most other Dolomite High Altitude Trails, runs as a transversal from west to east over the ridges of the Dolomites, most of which rise from south to north.
Long-distance hiking trail with panoramic views
The Dolomites High Trail No. 9 starts in the provincial capital of South Tyrol, Bozen/Bolzano, then crosses South Tyrol and part of the province of Belluno. The stages of the long-distance hiking trail are really short and therefore also suitable for hikers with less physical condition. This long-distance hike takes you to the most beautiful places in the Dolomites. The route is taken within 12 to 14 days.
Our day on the mountains starts at Falzeben to reach the Meranerhütte. On the way you frequently pass different alpine huts where you can have a rest. For example, the "Zuegghütte", the "Rotwandhütte" or the "Waidmannalm". From the "Meraner Hütte" (1937m), you will pass the ridge "Kreuzjöchl" (1981m) to the mountain "Kartoffel" (2084m), the highest point of this hike. Crossing the ridge "Auener Jöchel" (1925m), you will descend to the "Stoanernen Mandlen" (2003m) and finally to the "Möltner Kaser" (1766m). Here you can always walk over gentle alpine meadows and on the "Stoanernen Mandlen" you have a particularly good view of the nearby Dolomites. Via "Möltner Joch" you will reach the parking space Schermoos and Meltina.
Snow shoe hiking trail with a splendid panoramic view on the Sterzing basin. The Kuhalm mountain hut is not opened in winter.
From the parking lot in Kuens/Caines proceed along the Hochübel road taking the Riffianer Waalweg trail before arriving at the Sanctuary of the Sorrowful Holy Mother (Wallfahrtskirche Zu den Sieben Schmerzen Mariens) in Riffian/Rifiano. For the devoted, the pilgrimage to Rifiano is a well-trodden destination, with over 700 pilgrims visiting to date. The seven stations retrace Mary’s path, Her Seven Dolors portrayed on the ornamentation around the miraculous image at the main church altar.

The winter circular hike to the Flaner Jöchl at Rosskopf / Monte Cavallo ridge is an easy panoramic hike for all the family on Sterzing’s / Vipiteno local mountain. The well-prepared trail leads through the snowy mountain and woodland landscape across the valley basin and offers wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. From the nearby Sarntal Alps where the hike begins, to the view of the mountains of the Pfitschtal valley in the foreground and the peaks of the Dolomites on the horizon, through to the view into the Pflerschtal valley: a range of winter worlds present themselves to hikers as they walk along. Snowshoes are not necessary for the circular trail!
This tranquil hike leads you from Pietralba/Weissenstein to the hermitage of St. Leonhard, a small church, situated in a lonely wood near the monastery of Pietralba. At this quiet place, and long time ago, Leonhard has found a small sculpture of the blessed virgin, after being saved from an extremely dangerous situation.
