One of the classic tours on the Laces "Nörderberg" - real alpine pasture food included.
From the car park of the Laces sports stadium (SportForum) we start in a southerly direction to the AquaForum adventure pool, then turn right to the ice stadium (IceForum) and straight to the Latscherhof and then to the forest path in the direction to Magrinböden. The forest path is now moderately steep but constant in the direction of Töbrunn. From there we crank the final stretch slightly up and down to the refreshment stop at the Latscher Alm. Homemade products and good dumplings as well as drinks containing electrolytes delight our bikers hearts. We return to the valley either via the same forest trail, the Tarscher Alm forest trail, the "Roatbrunn trail" (S3) or the "4-wins-13 trail" (S2).
Nestled between the Endkopf "Jaggl" (2,627 m) and Pleisköpfl (2,425 m) lies the destination, the Grauner Alm alpine pasture, at 2,173 m. Start the tour in Graun at 1,500 m. For a quick warm up, follow the road into the Langtauferer valley. After 250 m, turn right over the bridge and pedal up through the shady Arluiwald forest on a mainly pleasant incline on the alpine path to the Grauner Alm alpine pasture. There is a possibility to park your mountain bike at the mountain pasture and continue on foot via hiking trail no. 10 to the summit of the Endkopf (2,652 m). Duration of hike: approx. 2.5 hours (ascent and descent). On the hiking path to the peak, it's possible to spot some rare edelweiss flowers and marmots. Lying in the grass on the slope, enjoy the sensational panorama and head back down to the valley via the alpine path to stop by the village for a good meal.
"One of the most beautiful trails in the Alps" – this is how Bike Magazine described the Montesole /Sunny Benny Trail in Val Venosta.
This trail is passable nearly all year round and takes you through the austere cultural landscape of Val Venosta’s Sun Mountain. You will not only enjoy the flowing passages, but also the fantastic panoramic views of Monte Tramontana and of the surrounding mountain peaks and glaciers. Start at the mountain station in San Martino in Monte and follow the asphalt road downhill. Turn right after 1.2 km and take hiking path no. 9 for the first broader warm-up trail passage. The main part of the trail with flowing forest floors and more difficult stone passages (partially S2) starts after a short asphalt road crossing at Birchaböden. Look forward to pure trail fun after a short crosswise drive on the Ratschillweg road to the newly built trail section with fantastic steep turns. The successive flatter, flowing “Share the Trail” section starts after a few meters in altitude and takes you along Piani di Annenerg. Continue until the suspension bridge, pass by the cairns and take the partially steep path no. 5 to Tiss. Variant: You can also take path no. 5A to Tiss, just before the suspension bridge. Return on the asphalt road towards Laces or Coldrano. Please note: “Share the Trail” sections for some parts, especially on paths no. 5 and 7. Please show consideration for hikers as they have right of way!
The mountain bike tour to the Rifugio Forcola/Furkelhütte is a wonderful tour to a hut with a breathtaking view and the possibility to stop for refreshments. As the tour runs through a forest path it is very suitable for e-bikers.
From the Etschradbrücke bridge in Tschars the uphill trail no. 2 to the Marzoner Alm mountain pasture leads with a slight incline past various farms up to Tomberg, and continues on to the Zirmtal intersection. There the trail turns right in order to reach, by means of another climb, the Marzoner Alm mountain pasture (1,600 m). The first 8,3 km are paved and the rest of the route is along a gravel path. Upon arrival at the Uphill Marzoner Alm 2, there are two different ways to join either the Lupo Trail or the Fontana Trail. At 6,7 km (570m vertical climb) one can take the Fontana Trail and at 4,3 km (360m vertical climb) the Lupo Trail.
From St. Valentin over the dam wall of lake Resia, the tour takes us westwards through the hamlet of Innerkaschon up to the old road towards Schöneben (above the old Reschensee road). The climb is approx. 8 km and 650 m in altitude, first on asphalt and then on gravel, mainly through forest, to the Haideralm mountain restaurant with its beautiful panoramic terrace overlooking the surrounding mountains and the two lakes. The descent leads back 350 m along the ascent route before turning on the right towards Zerzer valley. Cross the ski slope to hiking trail no. 7, which leads to the Bruggeralm alpine hut, where you can enjoy some excellent dumplings and alpine cheese in the summer months. After the bridge behind the alpine hut, turn left and follow signpost no. 8, past the St. Martin chapel to the Faulen See lake and continue down the paths to the Vinschger cycle path. Turn left and cycle comfortably along the Haidersee lake back to St. Valentin.
Note: The name "Goas" comes from the Vinschgau dialect and means goat. When farmers in this region increasingly practised "Goashaltung" in agriculture, this mountain was the grazing area for these animals.
If you want to enjoy great views and inform yourself about Europe’s highest granaries, then this is the right tour for you. Start at the Trattla sports and leisure center with the culturamartell visitor center and the South Tyrolean Strawberry World. During this tour, you pass different climate zones at Val Martello‘ Sun Mountain: from the strawberry fields along Martello’s valley path (no. 36) through the village of Martello and up to Europe’s highest mountain farms Premstl, Niederhof or Stallwies built on steep, irrigated slopes. Beautiful mountain farms with wooden shingle roofs accompany you on your way to Stallwies while crossing the partially extremely steep meadows of Martello’s Selva on the road. Just after Premstl at Niederhof, you can enjoy the impressive view of the Cevedale glacier and Martello’s high mountain world. After another three kilometers you reach the Stallwies inn where you turn right at the mill and continue on a beautiful forest road through Swiss pine forests until you reach the Wiesboden viewpoint and picnic area. If you want, you can explore the wooden irrigation channel path or the Mountain Farmer Trail by taking the path up or down.
This short tour named after the surname of this area leads from Prato/Prad which is characterised by Romanesque period, across the beautiful meadow path above the granaries of the Venosta Valley to Agumes/Agums and to Montechiaro/Lichtenberg. A tarmacked trail leads upwards, gaining a little altitude, up to the Lichtenberg Castle and the Pinethöfe farms. We cycle past the Pinethöfe and a little later, turn left into the flowy S0 to S1 trail, which merges with a small tarmacked road at the Wartamstein height, back to Prato
Tip: Please do not cycle on the popular family hiking trail.
Worth seeing: Castles like the former Lichtenberg Fortress, the parish church of Montechiaro with building features and frescos from the 13th century, the St. Christina chapel (1575) with a chancel closed on three sides, wall paintings and shingle roof.
Have a look at the new bike tour to the Marzoneralm around Castelbello-Ciardes.
The mountain bike tour to the Malga Vitelli/Kälberalm is an easy tour, which leads through the forest to an alpine pasture. Since the tour follows a forest path, it is suitable for e-bikers.
Matscher Raubritter Mountain Bike Tour
