Our journey takes place by taxi, which brings us to the Huberkreuz parking in Barbiano. From there, we start our hike, which takes us with a gentle ascent through the picturesque landscape to the mountain pine oil distillery. Upon arrival, we are greeted with a guided tour where we learn about the traditional production techniques and gain fascinating insights into the world of mountain pine. Join us on a gentle hike through the wild and romantic Tschamin Valley – one of the most untouched gems of the Dolomites. Together with our hiking guide Julian, you'll explore not only breathtaking scenery but also hear fascinating stories about local life, including the traditions of the mountain people, the legend of the “Saures Wasserle,” and more. We'll take a relaxing lunch break at the scenic “right Leger” before heading back to the Tschamin Schwaige, where a well-deserved refreshment awaits. Although the old Venetian saw is currently out of service due to storm damage, the exhibition is open and well worth a visit. Discover the Infopoint Steger Sawmill! Visitors can explore a Venetian frame saw from the 16.th century as well as the former sawmaster's house. In addition to these witnesses of Alpine craftsmanship anc cultural heritage, the infopoint also features various exhibition elements. These include a sound station for bird calls, a film booth, a visitor information system about the fauna, flora and geology of the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park. The hay baths in Fiè allo Sciliar have been practiced since 1903. During this guided tour, we will tell you about the culture and the healing effect of the hay bath. The hay bath originated from a tradition of the farmers who took their night's lodging in the hay barn during haymaking and noticed that after a night in the hay the tiredness of the previous day was blown away. Those who spend their wellness holidays around the Alpe di Siusi can relax in the hay according to an old tradition. The medicinal herbs such as thyme, arnica, cinquefoil and gentian unfold their full effect when you sweat. The grass for the hay bath, interspersed with the many medicinal herbs, is mown exclusively on unfertilised meadows, early in the morning or late in the evening, in order to preserve all the essential essences.

The historical escape routes of Michael Gaismair and his army in 1525/26 as well as more recent escape routes from the 20th/21st century, which are shown in the exhibition in the form of pictures and photographs, are geographically divided into two presentation locations to the west and east of Bruneck: at LUMEN. Museum of Mountain Photography at Kronplatz focuses on Graubünden/Gadertal/Padua and Karwendel/Pyrenees/Western Alps, while at Museum Burg Heinfels the focus is on Zillertal/Salzburg/East Tyrol and Krimmler Tauern/Strandzha Mountains/Kurdistan. After a 2-minute ride by private car and a subsequent hike (approx. 20 minutes) you reach the excavation site, where you will search for Geodes of Teis under the expert supervision of a collector. Note: Due to Paul Fischnaller's advanced age, the excursion will be led by another experienced collector. Tools are provided by the museum. Hiking boots recommended. On the tracks of the biathlon elite: Come and experience the excitement of this large sports venue that has already hosted numerous international competitions. Take a closer look at the technical and functional rooms, the entire administration building and the spectator stands in more detail. We tell you exciting stories and give you interesting facts about the Südtirol Arena and not to be missed: we will also take a look at Antholz 2026. A film about biathlon rounds off your knowledge of the sport. Finally you can feel like an elite Biathlete and try out biathlon shooting: put your marksmanship to the test with five shots. Guided tours of the biathlon stadium including biathlon shooting at realistic small-bore conditions are scheduled twice a week from June to October in German language. "How did our ancestors live? A guided tour (german or italian) of the Museum Steinegg immerses you in the everyday life of past centuries. Lovingly furnished parlours, chambers and craft workshops tell of hard work, old customs and a life in the rhythm of nature. Experience over 1000 years of Tyrolean history, customs and traditions on 1000 m². Above all, the art treasures of religious and secular origin give the museum a special flavour and make it unique in South Tyrol. An animal exhibition is a source of amazement, especially for children. A new feature is the opportunity to be told directly by historical witnesses how they experienced the past. These exciting interviews can be shown on various screens. Important information: The museum opens on Palm Sunday and remains open until the end of October. His works can be found in numerous international public and private collections.

OPENING TEMPORARY EXHIBITION: 12/07/2025 My wife and I were expecting the birth of our daughter in 2021, the year my book MASSIV was published. During this time, I felt a growing desire to send a strong message about the protection of the Alps. That‘s why I donated all of the proceeds from the book – over 100,000 euros – to projects aimed at preserving our mountains. I didn‘t want to have to explain to my daughter later that I had stood by and done nothing while our Alps were under threat. Shortly before the book was published, I also made a short film called "A letter to my daughter" – a personal, hopeful letter to my unborn child.

In the second half of the 19th century, running a business, practicing a skilled trade, or, least of all, being an alpinist was far from easy if you were a woman. The period between 1865 and 1914 saw numerous wives of photographers active in mountaineering and mountain photography, and it would not be possible to include them all in this exhibition. Instead, four women photographers were selected to represent the group in this exhibition. Among them, Elizabeth Whitshed Main takes a special place as an outstanding photographer, alpinist, and the founder of winter alpinism in general and winter tourism in the region of Engadin, Switzerland, in particular. The exhibition also features works by Gertrude Bell, Eleonore Noll-Hasenclever, and Una Cameron, three distinguished alpinists, travel journalists, and women’s rights activists. The life and work of these four pioneers of mountain photography are exhibited in rotation. Una May Cameron is currently being exhibited.
