Autumn days in Tramin
…enjoy the golden autumn!
The South Tyrolean Wine road changes into a colourful sea of vineyards and orchards. The farmers are in their heyday and the harvest gets taken in. Soon the barrels will be full, the fermentation of the popular juice from the grapes doesn’t take long to begin. Now the “Neue” new wine can be sampled, the most important moment of the year for the farmers. And celebrated it will be.
How the new wine tastes – that will be found out by the people of Tramin and its guests during the traditional Autumn Days Tramin at the latest, which are always at the end of October. People of all age groups meet at the festival area that is richly decorated with lots of harvest products for a joyful festival. The “Neue” new wine and wines from Tramin get sampled; and along with this there are hearty South Tyrolean specialities. And all of the colourful shenanigans at the festival area are accompanied by the colourful and melodious performances of folk music groups.
Free bus shuttle from Kaltern, St. Josef am See, Auer and Kurtatsch.

You could try to describe “Aluna” in a simple formula: one viola, two guitars, one trombone, one double bass, five passionate singing voices from South Tyrol, and songs from all over the world. A cover band without drums, then?
Not quite. “Aluna” is a word from the multilingual vocabulary of the Kogi, Arhuaco, and Wiwa – mountain peoples who fled Spanish conquest 400 years ago and found refuge in Colombia’s highlands. Back then, “Aluna” meant the soul, thought, and human imagination.
Today, the Aluna ensemble uses multicultural creativity to bring soulful interpretations of music from many parts of the world and cultures – performed by five musicians from the multilingual alpine region of South Tyrol.
Their repertoire includes music of Neapolitan, Yiddish, Egyptian, Latin American, and Central European origin. It thrives on the unique style of their arrangements and the hope that something soulful can transcend language barriers and mountain peaks, creating a shared space of sound that unites people. It’s not easy – but it sounds wonderfully natural.
Umberto Carrescia – guitar, vocals
Zeno Braitenberg – viola, accordion, vocals
Gregor Marini – guitar, vocals
Harti Mumelter – double bass, vocals
Gigi Grata – trombone, trumpet, percussion, vocals

It is probably the most beautiful pilgrimage across the whole Alpine region: when autumn is at its most colourful, on the second Sunday in October, the villagers of Ortisei go up to the Chapel of San Giacomo. The location itself is heavenly: the chapel and the visitors look out across the Sassolungo from a spot on the steep mountain forest. From here, the mountain comes across like a cathedral of nature. Blessed as one is after a view like this, on Monday go to the traditional Segra Sacun market. Here it's all about the more earthly delights. The whole pedestrian zone is a lively market square, where walking through can be a bit difficult at times. Culinary delights, craftsmanship, carved and painted, are on offer. Another old tradition takes place in the market place: men ripe for marriage will buy a pear at the market, which they will decorate with a ribbon and give as a present to their chosen one. During Easter the following year, the woman has to give the man Easter eggs. Important: the man cannot forget to pick up the eggs if he wants to win his woman over.
Let us spoil you with exquisite delicacies to a musical sound.
When preparing the dishes, we place special emphasis on using local products from Vöran and the surrounding villages.
The Vöran church choir looks forward to hosting you at this special celebration of autumnal delights!
