    Sissi Tour
    Welschnofen/Nova Levante, Dolomites Region Eggental

This leisurely circular hike combines nature, panoramic views, and a touch of history around Karersee | Carezza. It leads along the Elisabeth Promenade to the historic Elisabeth monument, then continues through the idyllic Frin meadows, offering an impressive 360° mountain panorama of the Rosengarten | Catinaccio and Latemar massifs. Along the way, you’ll pass an old grain mill before returning to the starting point. The tour pays tribute to Empress Elisabeth of Austria, known as Sissi, who spent the summer of 1897 at the Grand Hotel Carezza. A passionate hiker, she loved to explore the region on foot. Her favorite walking path was later named after her, and a small memorial plaque along the route still commemorates her stay in the area.

    Tour on the Seiser Alm
    Kastelruth/Castelrotto, Dolomites Region Seiser Alm
Starting from Compatsch on the Seiser Alm (1835 m), passing the new wooden Franziskus church, we follow the small asphalt road that leads to Saltria across the alpine pasture. The traffic-calmed road across the alpine pasture area is used by the typical horse-drawn carriages and horse-drawn sleighs both in summer and in winter. Shortly after the Restaurant Panoramalift we use the pedestrian underpass and after a slight ascent we reach the natural monument Tschonstoan, a huge rocky outcrop, which is located directly at the roadside. The hike continues in slight ups and downs to the wide meadow of the Großes Moos (1860 m). Near a crossroads, we can decide here whether to continue in the direction of Saltria to the nearby Restaurant Ritsch Schwaige or turn left in the direction of Piz. If you continue walking, after a short descent (9%) you leave the asphalt road and take the unpaved road to the Sanon hut on the right. The road leads through beautiful alpine meadows and past several huts dominated by the rocky splendour of the Langkofel and Plattkofel mountains. At a gradient, a path branches off to the left which leads across the meadows down to the alpine pasture: At this point the path becomes much narrower, bumpier and in some places quite steep. Over some wooden footbridges we finally reach the nearby Sanon hut (1848 m). The hut is open all year round and offers a welcome stop for refreshments. The return to Compatsch follows the same route.

The Peace Trail (Friedensweg) in Caldaro/Kaltern
Kaltern an der Weinstraße/Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino, Alto Adige Wine Road

The Peace Trail (Friedensweg) in Caldaro was created between 1995 and 2000 by an action group led by Georg Reider. It leads from the Sportzone St. Anton car park across the cultural and natural landscape through the Kardatschertal valley or the wild Rastenbachklamm gorge to St Peter’s Church in Castelvecchio/Altenburg.

Seven stations invite hikers and pilgrims to pause and reflect. Artists have interpreted the five themes of “Moderation, Wisdom, Justice, Belief and Hope,” artistically applying them to the environment. The sixth station (Courage) is the Rastenbachklamm gorge. The seventh, Love, is represented by the ruins of the early Christian St Peter’s Church in Castelvecchio, probably the oldest church ruins in Tyrol.

Sturdy footwear is recommended for the hike and sure-footedness is also essential in some places.

    St Peter's trail
Kaltern an der Weinstraße/Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino, Alto Adige Wine Road

The hike starts at the Altenburg Church above Kaltern. From here, a narrow yet easy-to-walk forest trail with a gentle incline leads to a panoramic viewpoint offering stunning views over the Adige Valley. The path is varied, passing through shady mixed forest – for some sections, a good head for heights is recommended.

At the viewpoint, turn left onto the St. Peter Trail and follow waymark no. 2. The trail winds downhill in serpentine curves through a small gorge and across a suspension bridge. Soon you’ll reach the ruins of the three-nave Church of St. Peter, an important relic of early Christian architecture. It is considered possibly the oldest church in Tyrol, believed to have been founded in the 6th century by Saint Vigilius of Trento. Fragments of frescoes by Thomas Egnolt from around 1400 are still visible – well worth a short stop.

From the ruins, the route continues toward the Rastenbach Gorge – an exciting highlight of the hike with dramatic views into the canyon. The trail descends into the gorge, where you enter at a junction and then follow it uphill. Sturdy footwear is essential here, as the stairs can be damp and slippery.

At the upper end of the gorge, you arrive at “Müllereck,” cross the road, and follow the trail to the left, leading back toward Altenburg. The return path takes you leisurely through meadows and forest until you arrive once again at the Altenburg Church – the starting point of this circular hike.

Hike: From the Rotwandwiesen meadows to the Kreuzberg pass
    Sexten/Sesto, Dolomites Region 3 Zinnen

An extremely scenic, six-kilometre high-altitude trail that follows old war trails and can also be recommended to less experienced mountain hikers, especially as the ascent can be done by lift and the way back by bus. The good trail leads from the Rotwand meadows, partly at the tree line, partly above it at the foot of vertical rockfalls, almost flat to the Kreuzberg Pass. From the path there are beautiful views of the Carnic ridge and the ice peaks of the Rieserferner group to the north.

On the right there is an alp crucifix and behind it is located a little fishpond. There you can see a rock formation - the huge alpine massif of the summit Tribulaun. Although it is 3.100 high, it overshadows the remaining summits. Tip: delicious apple pie

Looking for an hike with breathtaking views and a cozy stop? Then the trail from the Ladurns mountain station (1,713 m) to the Edelweisshütte is perfect. The trail takes you past the Ladurns mountain village and the Ladurnerhütte hut. From there, continue across the "Mahder" to the Edelweisshütte, which you can already see from afar. Along the way, you'll enjoy spectacular views of the impressive Pflerscher Tribulaun rock mass, which towers over the surrounding mountains.

At the Edelweisshütte, you can take a break and admire the mountain cross and a small fish pond. Additionally, there's an opportunity to fish in the lake – the freshly caught fish will be prepared for you right on site by chef Luis. A special tip: enjoy the delicious apple strudel at the hut, which will perfectly round off your outing.
