On the Merano High Mountain Trail (trail n° 24), the entire Texel Group Nature Park can be circumnavigated in a hiking tour of four to six days. The best time to hike the Merano High Mountain Trail (trail n° 24) is: The northern part is a summer tour, walkable from the end of June to the beginning of October (depending on snow conditions). The southern and eastern sections can often be walked all year round and are suitable for one-day tours. The numerous typical South Tyrolean mountain inns and refuges inviting you to rest and have a snack, the varied world of peaks and the magnificent mountain lake landscape of the Spronserseen lakes make the Merano High Mountain Trail in the Texel Group Nature Park a unique hiking area!
We start from Barbian/Barbiano and take the trail nr. 3 and then 11 to Dreikirchen/Trechiese. From there we follow the way nr. 4 until the parking place "Huber Kreuz". We take the forest road to the direction of "Pian" and follow the trail 3B and 3A to the "Unterhornhaus" and "Felturnerhütte". For the return we take the tail nr. 15 to the mountain pine distillery and than along the way nr. 3, by which we pass the "Unteraichnerhof", "Nixenteich", "Tröglerhof" and "Wieserhof". We follow this way until we arrive at Barbian/Barbiano.
From the village place of Barbian/Barbiano we go to the so called "Keschtnweg" in direction to Sauders/San Maurizio at Villanders/Villandro. First we have to cross a steep descent. After this first hard part of the hike we go comfortable to Sauders/San Maurizio (in this place you have also the possibility to eat and drink somewhere). On the return we have to go a little bit on the street in direction to Villanders/Villandro and then we follow the trail nr. 4 until the "Winterlehof". From that position we can go back to Barbian/Barbiano.
The Val Casies/Gsiesertal Valley has many beautiful alps, some of which also offer comfortable refreshment facilities. As the name "Almweg 2000" suggests, the route leads on average about 2,000 meters above sea level from the Hörneckele in S. Martino to the Tscharnietalm hut in S. Maddalena.

It is recommended to divide your hike along the trail in several stages and not walk the whole trail in one day. There are several access and descent options for the Almweg 2000.
The archaeological trail rises from Vernago/Vernagt to Giogo Basso/Niederjoch with its spectacular views and on to Tisenjoch, a reminder of the discovery site of Ötzi the Iceman, crosses the border and continues on to the village of Vent (A).
We start from the village place near the church. Then we go to the Raiffeisenkassa, in north direction. At this point it starts the hiking trail nr. 3 - 11. The first part of this trail is an asphaltic road. We go at the end of this road and there beginns an olt stone-flagged trail.
Then we continue on an old, paved path, cross the next asphalt road and walk into the forest. About the beautifully landscaped trail with Mark. 11 we get to the sports zone and finally to a forest path. Here begin a forest road that pass on the Dreikirchen/Trechiese. For the return we choose first the trail in the forest nr. 6. After we go ahead on the trail nr. 3 ("Feistegg") until the "Wieserhof". He is located on the street (nr.6a). We go ahead on the street until a branch. Here we have to change to the "Wasserfallweg", that lead us back to the village.
The archaeological trail from Vent to Maso Corto/Kurzras leads through captivating mountain landscape that was already used many centuries ago by shepherds with their flocks.

Along the hiking path from Niederolang to Mühlbach were positioned different blocks of stone from all the different regions of Alto Adige. On the information boards next to the blocks you can get all the information about them. The hiking path now is a place of experience, a place of communication, a place for learn & linger.
Starting point: mountain station Rosskopf Monte Cavallo (1.860m)
The cable car Rosskopf / Monte Cavallo (valley station near the north park in Sterzing / Vipiteno) takes you to the mountain staton. Leave the mountain station and follow the trails “Kastellacke” or “Flaner Jöchl”. After about 20 minutes of walking time you reach the mountain hut Furlhütte.
Alternative: by foot to the leisure mountain: starting from the valley station of the cable car Rosskopf Monte Cavallo on path no. 19 or no. 23, continue through a shady forest and along serpentines to a forest path until you reach the mountain station. From there follow the trails “Kastellacke” or “Flaner Jöchl” to the mountain hut Furlhütte.
Tip: “Blattler mit Kraut”, sunbathing area, Indian dishes on reservation, children’s playground

At the last house of the village (Haus Urban), on the right side, begins the "Wasserfallweg". We contnue this trail until we cross a street. We go on this street until the next curve and branch off to the left and there is another trail, which pass on the lower waterfall (duration ca. 1 hour).
From the village place near the church we have to go to the end of the village, in direction to Saubach/St. Ingenuino. At the last house of the village (Haus Urban), on the right side, beginns the "Wasserfallweg". We contnue this trail until we cross a street. We go on this street until the next curve and branch off to the left and there is another trail, which pass on the lower waterfall (Duration ca. 1 hour). From the lower one we hike to the upper waterfall. For this trail good foodwear is necessery. At he way back we take the hike way nr. 6 and 6 A to the saw mill and hear we can go back from the "Wasserfallweg" to Barbian/Barbiano.

A challenging path, partially paved, partially steep, runs in the footsteps of historic bathhouses. Located 200 m above the Lotterbad oasis is a water intake with mineral-rich spring water.
Explore nature in the Val Casies/Gsiesertal Valley – a variant of the trail “Almweg 2000”
In the Val Casies/Gsiesertal Valley, you find many beautiful alps, of which some also offer comfortable refreshment facilities. As the name "Almweg 2000" suggests, the trail leads on average about 2000 meters above sea level from hut to hut. Of the various access options, we recommend here the high-altitude hike with the most beautiful panorama and particularly rewarding flora from the Tscharnietalm alpine pasture in the south to the Uwald Alm hut in the north, which together with the ascent and descent form a closed circular hike, which of course can also be hiked in the opposite direction.

The Corno di Tres offers a wonderful view over the Bassa Atesina holiday region and the remaining Adige valley. The tour begins on the Favogna road, right about 3 km after Fennhals along trail 3, Corno di Tres. For a round trip, a climb over the saddle (marking 7, Fennhals) is also possible (11km, 865hm, 4h40m). Once on top, pass the Rätersteig (always sign no. 3) on the right to Fenner Joch (1563 m). From there on, the somewhat steep Barbara path to the summit. In the same way back to Favogna.

Circular walk, no fear of heights required
This circular walk allows you to look behind the largest waterfall in South Tyrol, leads to emerald green pools and small waterfalls. Breathtaking viewpoints and the sound of cascades invite you to linger and relax. If you want to get very close to the Partschins waterfall before you start your walk, you can make a short detour (5 minutes walk) to the viewing platform.
From Altrei on Town Hall Square (1,212 m) above the paved trail no. 5 direction Long moss, we walk through meadows and woods to get to the Long Moss (1,452 m). Following the forestry trail No.9 we reach the service area "Krabesalm" (1,540 m). Then we continue over the forestry trail No.9 with the direction "Ziss-Sattel". From there back to Altrei along path no. 3
