The snow-blanketed Calvary Hill in Kastelruth, known locally as the ‘Kofel’, is the destination of this short but sweet winter walk, which boasts wonderful views over Kastelruth and the surrounding area. The Kofel is much loved by locals and guests alike as a place of relaxation and recreation.
This leisurely winter walking tour leading from Seis to Kastelruth boasts beautiful views over the villages at the foot of the Schlern, the picturesque St. Valentin chapel and the imposing Schlern massif with the Santner peak.
Tires’ very own Tschafon is a wonderful place to explore on a winter’s snowshoe expedition with masses of views over the legendary Rosengarten.
Mölten is embedded in mountain meadows and oriented towards the sun and the mountain Tschögglberg. It is centrally located and only a short drive away from Meran and Bozen.
A beautiful trail leads through the various landscapes of Mölten .
Starting point: North lakeshore of the Lake Haider in S. Valentino alla Muta Ascent: Along the western lakeshore to the southern end of the Lake Haider, then take the road on the right side, along the trail number 8 for Lake Faulensee. Turn right again to the old alpine path, which goes into Zerzertal. Pass the St. Martin Church and walk up the bridge just before the alpine pasture Malga Brugger/Brugger Alm (it is closed in winter). Over the lower trail number 7 across the Petsch forest in north direction back to the village St. Valentin. Arrived at the forest road, the way goes further on the skiing slope. Down to Plagött (posibility to stop for a bite to eat), and on to the valley station of the Malga S. Valentino/Haideralm.
This route with its moderate rise is suitable for baby buggy. You will need just 45 minutes passing through the broad forest road.
The Malga Giogo di San Genesio (Jenesier Jöchl-Alm) is a typical South Tyrolean Alpine hut with grazing animals and snack bar, situated on one of the most beautiful high plateau between Salto/San Genesio, Merano2000 and Val Sarentino, tested and awarded from the influential restaurant guide Gault Millaut 2016.
From the terrace of the hut you will have a beautiful view to the Dolomites and the Mendel Crest.
From the village place near the church we have to go to the end of the village, in direction to Saubach/St. Ingenuino. At the last house of the village (Haus Urban), on the right side, beginns the "Wasserfallweg". We contnue this trail until we cross a street. We go on this street until the next curve and branch off to the left and there is another trail, which pass on the lower waterfall (Duration ca. 1 hour). From the lower one we hike to the upper waterfall. For this trail good foodwear is necessery. At he way back we take the hike way nr. 6 and 6 A to the saw mill and hear we can go back from the "Wasserfallweg" to Barbian/Barbiano.

An easy winter hike to the Matscheralm on the groomed winter trail. Perfect for families.
The Völs am Schlern loop trail is a sunny, pleasant stroll with magnificent views over the Ritten plateau and Prösels Castle.
The leisurely hike leads without any significant difference in altitude from Seis, past St. Konstantin and St. Anton to Völs.
The hiking tour on the Alps of Barbian starts at the Huber Kreuz (1621 m). From here we go to „Merlboden“ on trail nr 4. Then it continues to go round the Oberes Horn to the Unteres Horn (2044 m). There is a stop off. After the refreshment begins the descent. It goes down to „Pennleger“ (1847 m) and on trail nr 3B to the Huber Kreuz.
On the hike you get to Prösels Castle, built around 1200 by the Counts von Völs. In the early 16th century it was extended and converted by the Governor of Tyrol, Leonhard von Völs, to a Renaissance castle. Beautiful circular snowshoe hike across the Eisa meadows to the Matscher Alm.
The wildly romantic Tschamin Valley between the Schlern and the Rosengarten is the perfect destination for a winter hike for all those who love unspoilt nature. The destination of this winter walk is the Rechter Leger, a wonderfully situated box-seat spot with views over the Grasleitentürme towers and the Tschaminspitzen peaks.

Attention: the path is not cleared in winter and can be icy in places. Always wear good shoes!

This beautiful winter’s walk leads up through snowy woods from the Völser Weiher Lake to the Tuff and Hofer Alpl mountain hut. Given that the walk begins at the Völser Weiher Lake, you can also make the most of the opportunity to strap on your skates and take a spin around the lake.
