    This segment leads from the village of Gfrill (1,300 meters elevation) to Montan (500 meters above sea-level). At the beginning, the route is slightly uphill via the Gfrill Saddle and then downhill until you reach Gschnon (good place to stop for a rest). You will then ascend via Gsteig (option for refreshments and overnight lodgings) and down to the impressive Glen Waterfall. You will then take the last part along the old railroad route of the former Fleims Valley railroad to the famed Pinot Noir village of Montan.

    Helpful hint for this route: Take the little side-trip from Gsteig to the impressive "Kanzel" looming high above the Unterland district. You'll be rewarded with a fantastic view!

    You can proceed along this very easy segment from Altrei uphill via the Ziss Saddle – not far from there, you can admire the stunning "huckete Stoan," a free-standing erratic boulder made of porphyry the size of a house – until you come to the Horn-Alm (which is managed). From here, you will proceed slightly downhill until you come to the bogland "Schwarz" and "Weiss" lakes. It's now only a short stretch to Gfrill, the goal of this segment.

    This segment will take you from Truden all the way to the idyllic village of Oberradein. The trail starts out downhill as you proceed towards Kaltenbrunn (lodging options and access to public transportation). You then pass by the famed "Ice Holes" of Kaltenbrunn and steadily uphill by way of Unterradein until you come to Oberradein. This village nestled in an unspoilt alpine landscape features stunning natural beauty, with numerous hiking options.

    This challenging segment leads from the famed Pinot Noir village of Montan all the way to Altrei. This alpine village is situated at an elevation of almost 1,200 meters above sea-level. From Montan, the route leads via the old railroad route of the former Fleims Valley railroad, on past the Glen Waterfall, up to the hamlet of Gsteig (option for food/drink and overnight lodgings). Then, from the Kalkofen parking lot, you will take the steep uphill route to the Hackelboden forest hut (not managed!) and on to the Horn-Alm (which is managed), the highest point of this segment. After a short pause (option for food/drink and overnight lodgings), you continue downhill along an easy path via the Ziss Saddle. You might want to stop at the Kneipp hydro-therapeutic station on your way to Altrei.

    Helpful hint for this route: Take the little side-trip from Gsteig to the impressive "Kanzel" looming high above the Unterland district. You'll be rewarded with a fantastic view!

    From the playground, follow the E5 path towards Colle dei Signori/Herrenkohlern, from where you can admire a wonderful 180° panorama that sweeps from the Mendola/Mendel to San Genesio/Jenesien, the Forcella Sarentina/Sarner Scharte and the Corno del Renon/Rittner Horn. The little church dedicated to St. Mary was built in 1744. Pass the houses and walk along the forest road to the crossing with trail no. 6. Turn right and walk through the green woods until you come to path no. 5 in the direction of Titschenwarte, the wonderful viewpoint over the Dolomites, which you reach in about 20 minutes. After a short break admiring the Sciliar/Schlern, the Catinaccio/Rosengarten group, the Latemar and the Pala di Santa/Zanggen, leave the little house and follow path no. 5A towards Schneiderwiesen where you can enjoy lunch or a snack. Return to the cable car following trail no. 1.

    On this segment, you will proceed through the Truden Horn Nature Park from the picturesque little village of Altrei to the multi-faceted alpine village of Truden. You will begin on an old cobblestone trail to the high-altitude bog of "Langes Moos." The trail continues upwards via the forest trail until you come to the Krabes-Alm at an elevation of 1,540 meters above sea-level. This is a good opportunity to stop for a rest. The trail continues through the Truden Horn Nature Park and then downhill to the village of Truden.

The little church dedicated to St. Mary was built in 1744. Pass the houses and walk along the forest road following the trail E5 to the Totes Moos biotope. Turn right at the biotope and follow trail no. 1A, keeping the pond on the left and the forest road on the right. The little path leads up to the Sasso Rosso/Rotenstein overhang, where you can see the Adige Valley and the villages of Appiano/Eppan, Caldaro/Kaltern and Laives/Leifers. Return to the biotope on the same trail and then continue along trail no. 1 to Schneiderwiesen and then back to the cable car.

    Through the vineyards to Kurtatsch

    We hike to the wine road - junction Neumarkt/Kurtatsch and after 30 m turn left into the Brenntalweg. Follow this asphalted road for about 3 km. Continue straight on and you will see signs for the "Millastiege". We follow these and climb up through the rocks to the wine road before the village of Kurtatsch.

    For the way back we take the hiking trail Kastelaz or the less frequented panoramic road via Rungg. You will find the corresponding signs in the village of Kurtatsch.

    This pleasant segment leads from idyllic village of Oberradein all the way to Truden – from 1,500 meters to 1,100 meters above sea-level. At the start, you proceed downhill by way of Unterradein until you come to the famed "Ice Holes" of Kaltenbrunn; because of the cool air that streams out of the openings in the ground, it's pleasant here even in the summer. Kaltenbrunn offers refreshment options and connection to public transportation. From here, the route goes slightly uphill and then levels off as you continue to Truden.

    From Klaushof follow the path nr. 3 first on an asphalted road and shortly afterwards on a footpath in the direction of La Costa/Seit, which leads to a wonderful viewpoint over Bolzano right below the Telecom antennas. Lunch possibility at Köhlhof (Saturday and Sunday). Cross the road and follow the stone path 3A up to Schneiderwiesen where you can stop for a break. From here, continue along trail no. 6 through the woodland until you reach trail no. E5. Take trail E5 towards Colle dei Signori/Herrenkohlern and return to the cable car.

    Hiking trough typical high forests and partly abandoned alpine pastures to reach the glacier world of the Rieserfernergruppe mountain range. Lots of creeks, brooks and waterfalls, fed by the glaciers, will give you an idea of the abundance of water in this area. At the Tristennöckl summit (2465 m) you can observe some arolla pine trees in their highest habitat in the Eastern Alps. The walk over boulders and moraines will bring you close to the edge of the floating ice which has vitally shaped the landscape.

Follow trail no. 7 to return to Bad St. Isidor where you can enjoy a good lunch or a traditional snack.

    The 3 country landmark offers not only a breath-taking view of the valley but also of the world (or at least three countries). The hike starts at the car park in Reschen/Resia near the cemetery by the lake. Follow the cycle path past the Mühlanderhof, cross the meadows and follow path signposted no. 3 – leading to the forest road up to the Tendershof. After two hairpin bends, follow a shaded forest path signposted no. 3 up to the border path, which runs below the mighty peak of Piz Lad, very close to the border. The path to the Dreiländerstein has South Tyrolean and Austrian signposts and leads to the iconic stone which indicates the borders of Italy, Austria and Switzerland. The view stretches as far as the Inn valley, the Engadine and the mountains of Nauders and Samnaun. The way back is along path no. 4 and 5 via the Rescher Alm mountain pasture to the village of Reschen.
    Alternative: It is possible to drive to the Rojental valley and start the hike from the car park of Kopferbrücke. Take the hiking path to the Rescher Alm alpine pasture and from there to the border stone.

    From the parking of Schneiderwiesen, follow trail no. 1 initially and then trail no. 6 to the right through the green woods until you come to trail no. 5 towards Titschenwarte, the Dolomite viewpoint, which can be reached in about 20 minutes. After a short break where you can admire the Sciliar/Schlern, the Catinaccio/Rosengarten group, the Latemar and the Pala di Santa/Zanggen leave the little house behind you and follow path no. 5A for a short distance, after a few minutes’ walk turn left following path no. 5B towards Monte Pozza/Titschen. A little further on you can admire some ruins: this is the FLAK post placed there by the Wehrmacht (German Armed Forces) of the Third Reich during the Nazi occupation (1943 - 1945) to counter the allied air raids that attempted to bomb the main lines of communication and the war industries of the so-called Operationszone Alpenvorland. Follow the cemented road and then trail no. 1 in the direction of Totes Moos. Turn right at the biotope and follow trail no. 1A, keeping the pond on the left and the forest road on the right. The little path leads up to the Sasso Rosso/Rotenstein overhang, where you can see the Adige Valley and the villages of Appiano/Eppan, Caldaro/Kaltern and Laives/Leifers. Return to the biotope on the same trail and then continue along trail no. 1 in direction Schneiderwiesen until the junction with trail no. 1B, which turns left and leads to the Parete Rossa/Rotwand viewpoint. Continue along trail no. 1B until it joins trail no. 1 that leads to Schneiderwiesen.

    This extended circuit along the Archeopfad Archaeological Trail leads from Brixen/Bressanone through the vineyards and fruit farms to the Natz-Schabs/Naz-Sciaves plateau, covered in apple orchards. Passing two natural biotopes, the scenic trail runs from the northernmost vineyards in South Tyrol as far as the Augustinian Canons Monastery of Neustift/Novacella before returning to Brixen. This all-encompassing trail passes through some of the most beautiful cultural landscapes in South Tyrol.
