Cross-country ski trail "Schönalm" approx. 3 km. Perfectly groomed nature trails. You can see a fascinating picture - the snowcapped peaks of the Dolomites, from the gruppo Sella to the Sciliar.

The 8 km long circular trail in Zernez is ideal as a training route for both trained and racing skiers. The trail starts at the sports and cross-country skiing centre in the middle of Zernez and offers ambitious cross-country skiers a challenging and varied 8 km circuit with around 250 metres of elevation gain. After cross-country skiing, we recommend a visit to the family pool or a detour to the National Park Centre.

The trail starts at the Inn bridge in Lavin and takes you past a small wooded area. The trail then runs in the direction of Giarsun until before the Inn bridge, where the trail makes a loop and leads back to Lavin.

The approximately 2 km long circular trail in Zernez is ideal for a leisurely cross-country skiing tour on the edge of the village of Zernez between the Spölbach stream and the edge of the forest. The Champatsch circuit starts at the wooden bridge in Prà da Punt, but can also be started at the sports and cross-country skiing centre in the middle of Zernez and combined with the night trail, circular trail and racing trail as desired.

A real highlight in the Lower Engadine - the cross-country skiing route from Martina along the Inn to Scuol. On around 20 kilometres, which are groomed almost daily, you can expect a unique view and a variety of landscapes, including ice crystals, the meadows along the Inn and the numerous wooded areas and clearings. The route is also optimally connected to public transport. This means you have the option of using various entry and exit points on the trail, for example in Martina, Sclamischot, San Niclà, Ramosch, Sur En or of course directly in Serras (Scuol).

The starting point of the trail is in Scuol. Numerous mineral water springs have turned the capital of the Lower Engadine into a wellness destination. Some of the village fountains have fresh mineral water. The old parts of the village, Scuol Sot and Scuol Sura, impress with their Romanesque architecture. The Swiss National Park, the spa and, of course, the ski area make the village a popular holiday destination. The valley trail begins at the eastern edge of the village of Scuol. It crosses the River Inn for the first time over several bends and slightly downhill. Passing the small farming village of Pradella, you reach Sur En, the gateway to the Uina Gorge. There used to be three corn mills, sawmills, lime kilns, two leather tanneries, a forge, a dye works, a roller and a cone mill here. Hard to imagine today when looking at this dreamy mini-village.

This trail is part of the ‘Loipa dal Sulagl’ (translated: sun trail) and lives up to its promise, as it lies on the sunny side of the Engadin. From Cinuos-chel, which is part of the upper Engadin, the trail climbs through the Bernina Group to the Lower Engadin village of Brail, which is reached after a rapid descent. In Val Punt Ota, you cross the border between the Upper and Lower Engadin.

Thanks to its 3 km length and minimal elevation difference, the Walten cross-country ski run is well suited to both children and learners. However, the trail also attracts more advanced skiers for its fast laps. In just a few minutes, you can reach the trail from Walten/Valtina from where it takes only 10 min to St. Leonhard/S. Leonardo (± 10 km). The cross-country ski run remains open and is free of charge.

On Thursdays (from January), between 5.30 and 9.30 pm, certain sections of the trail are lit up.

From the PostBus stop Ftan, cumün approx. 300 metres in the direction of the western end of the village, the trail entrance is located at the Kinderland Sainas. On initially flat terrain, you reach the car park at Hotel Paradies. After crossing the road, the actual Hochalpines Institut Ftan trail begins. The trail leads a short distance into the forest. Over several steps, the trail quickly gains altitude and reaches the Hochalpines Institut Ftan. On the plateau, you can really enjoy the winter landscape in the picturesque surroundings. Even if the almost 100 metres in altitude seem daunting at first glance, the trail is a wonderful winter experience for skating and classic skiers.

As a short circuit, this trail is also available as a night trail. The light switch for the night trail is at the wooden hut by the car park (towards Ardez). After switching on, the light burns for one hour and then switches off automatically.

Pensertal Cross Country Ski Track. The white gourmet trail runs along the Pennes Valley and passes traditional mountain huts and cosy inns. We recommend the circuit Asten and Murrerhof to pleasure-loving classics and skaters. Cross country enthusiasts will enjoy the 9 km long Pennes-Asten circuit. All trails are prepared daily and guarantee pure cross country skiing fun. From Zernez, the trail initially leads across the snow-covered plains above the Inn at the eastern end of the village. Shortly after the Chasuot farm, the valley narrows considerably and you enter the forest. The trail now runs directly along the Inn, with a few small ascents and descents through the forest to reach open terrain again before Susch.

The trails are racing trails that meet international IBU standards. Ambitious cross-country skiers will find a variety of well-groomed trails in both free and classic technique. Beginners can also tackle a 1 km circular trail in the area without any major technical challenges. 2 km of the trail are floodlit.

Cross-country skiers will get their money’s worth on the perfectly groomed trails in the Ultental valley. The route offers an environment sure to please cross-country ski enthusiasts. It passes by woods set deep in snow, the frozen Falschauer river, as well as centuries old farmhouses. With gentle inclines and descents, the conditions are perfect even for beginners. The trail is very diverse and offering the possibility to skate or do classic cross-country skiing.

Scenic cross-country skiing trail through the Lower Engadine. Starting in Zernez, the trail leads past the Engadin villages of Susch and Lavin

In Susch, you cross the village and have direct access to the cross-country ski trail. As soon as you leave Susch, you soon reach a small wooded area and a short ascent follows. The trail continues mostly along the edge of the forest to Lavin.

The wide track is well suited to skating and classic skiing, and is maintained on a daily basis. Just before and after arriving in Lazins/Lazines, there’s a trail to Zeppichl. This cross-country skiing trail is freely accessible without restrictions and has easy, medium-difficulty and challenging sections. On the way back to Pfelders/Plan (or Zeppichl) there’re a number of rapid descents, where skiers need to be on the lookout for pedestrians and oncoming cross-country skiers.

The route from Plan to the Lazinser Alm mountain pasture is rather tricky due in part to the long ascent and steep incline. But at the refuge in the wide valley basin below, one can enjoy almost effortless skiing at 680 m per lap on a 15 m run. The lap around Lazines is more challenging, at 1,336 m per lap on a 52 m run.

The 15 km long trail is the extension of the Engadin Skimarathon trail from S-chanf to Zernez. It runs on the right-hand side of the Inn, mostly through the forest down to Zernez and includes challenging ascents and descents.

The approximately three-kilometre circular trail starts at the eastern end of the village of Ardez on the road towards Ftan. The trail leads through a hilly but mostly flat landscape along the small lake ‘Il Lai’ and through short sections of forest back to Ardez. 

The light switch for the night trail is located at the Transformer at the trail entrance. Once switched on, the lights stay on until 11.00 pm and then switch off automatically.

From Ramosch, the trail alternates between open terrain and sparse forest and always remains close to the water. A total of three additional loops, some with steep intermediate sections, offer variety on the way to Martina, even for those familiar with the route. Although the border village of Martina has only around 100 inhabitants, it has two churches worth seeing: San Plasch from 1515 and San Niclà (12th century) with a monumental painting of St Christopher. There is also the ‘Stamparia Strada’ printing museum in Tschlin, just before Martina. The print shop was founded in 1680. Following careful renovation, the house is now one of the best-preserved farmhouses of the era and is a sight in itself.

The 3.3 km long and floodlit circular trail consists of two loops. The first leads from the sports centre out onto a plain in the direction of Prà da Punt (about 1 km). You then cross the Spölbach stream and can tackle the second loop. This leads over a short but intense ramp up to the edge of the forest where you then head back towards Zernez and, after a rapid descent, back to the starting point. (The lighting can be switched on manually).

Beautifully situated circular trail with a few short ascents and descents around the Lai Nair on mostly easy terrain. It is not possible to get directly to the start of the trail by public transport. (Walk approx. 20 minutes; free car park available near the trail on the road towards Avrona).

Cross country skiing is an intensive and relaxing experience in the unspoiled nature. The sunny Slingia valley welcomes you with perfectly preapred slopes. Beginners and professionales find best conditions on 22 km slopes.

The Ardez night trail is a shortened version of the Ardez: Il Lai trail. It starts at the eastern end of the village of Ardez on the road towards Ftan. Through a mostly flat landscape, you can make a beautiful loop even during the dark hours.

At Sur En - which means ‘over the Inn’ - cross-country skiers also cross the river and continue alternately through open terrain or sparse forest. The trail is always close to the water as far as Ramosch.
