The Pfunderer high altitude trail is a spectacular and challenging multi-day hike in South Tyrol, leading hikers through the stunning mountain landscapes of the Pfunderer Alps. Spanning approximately 70 kilometers with 5,600 meters of elevation gain, the trail offers breathtaking views, wild alpine terrain, and exhilarating challenges. The route stretches from Sterzing in the north to St. Georgen near Bruneck in the south, connecting secluded valleys, lush alpine meadows, idyllic mountain lakes, and panoramic peaks.
This tour is ideal for experienced hikers with strong stamina and surefootedness, who enjoy the solitude of the mountains. The route is divided into 6 stages, with daily hiking times between 3 and 7 hours. Conveniently located huts along the way provide rest and refreshments, allowing hikers to recharge.

This short family hike is educational, exciting and fun, with several outdoor recreational opportunities to offer. Accessible to prams and strollers, this hiking trail on the Plose has magnificent views of the western Dolomites, particularly the striking Peitlerkofel and rocky peaks of the Geisler Group.
The hike begins at the Fane Alm parking area, accessible via a narrow mountain road from the village of Vals. Initially, you follow trail no. 17 briefly in the direction of Fane Alm. Shortly after, you turn right onto the alpine road to Tschiffernaun Alm– a more relaxed alternative to the steep trail 15A. The road leads you up to Tschiffernaun Alm. At the beginning, you walk through dense forests, passing by small waterfalls. Later, near Stin Alm, the forest opens up to expansive alpine meadows.

The winter hike to Anratterhütte starts at the Bunker Recreation Area parking lot in Spinges. Right at the beginning, you can see an old bunker, a small historical curiosity.
From here, follow the well-prepared winter trail marked No. 9, which is regularly groomed by a snowcat. The path gently ascends through the snowy forest, offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
After about 2 hours, you reach the Obereggerbach stream at 1,730 m and continue past Hinterleitneralm and Weberalm.
Another 30 minutes later, you arrive at Anratterhütte at 1,815 m, where a cozy mountain hut and delicious South Tyrolean specialties await you.
The High Route no. 2 consists of a distance of 180 km, divided into 13 stages, which connects Bressanone to Feltre. The itinerary touches the three provinces of Bolzano, Trento and Belluno.
Stage 2 goes from the Plose hut to Rifugio Genova, allowing trekkers to discover the wonders of the Puez-Odle Natural Park, often referred to as "Earth’s history book" due to its geological significance. Along the walk, the majestic Sasso Putia remains always in sight and offers many chances for a souvenir photo.
Stage 3 connects the Rifugio Genova to the Rifugio Puez. With an additional half an hour walk it is possible to climb to the top of Piz Duleda (2.909m), which offers a stunning view. Hike from Skihütte to the Rossalm mountain pasture and the Großer Gabler summit on the Plose (2,575 m). Early risers or not, most people wish to experience the magic moment of sunrise, basking under the first rays of the new day on a mountaintop. With the sun rising on the Dolomite peaks of the Geisler Group, the Aferer Geisler and the Peitlerkofel, there’s no doubt that getting up early was well worth the effort.
At the cabin-railway mountain terminal called Valcroce - Kreuztal (2,050 metres), take the high road (path # 30) in a northerly direction, along the tree-growing limit to the Ochsenalm (2,085 metres, snack bar). Then ascend on foot path # 6 to the Plosescharte and along the ridge to the Leonhard Cross. Walk along a small path on the ridge to the telegraph Plose summit (2,486 metres, panoramic views) and from there in a southerly direction to the Plose Hut (2,446 metres, snack bar). Descend on path # 7 to Kreuztal.
