In the South Tyrolean part of the Zillertal Alps, in the middle of the Pfunderer mountains, the Brixner hut at 2,282 m awaits you. The shortest and most unusual way to get there starts in Vals, more precisely from the Fane Alm, a rustic mountain village. You first walk along a gravel path and cross the idyllic alpine village of Fane with its traditional huts, cattle sheds and small, charming church. Trail no. 17 continues along the Vallerbach stream to the waterfalls. From here it is a leisurely ascent to the Brixner hut. The trail is ideal for families, and the panoramic views over the Valler Valley will delight you!

The Pfunders Alpine Hut Circuit offers a varied hike through alpine landscapes, panoramic views, and welcoming hut stops. The route takes you past traditional alpine huts and stunning viewpoints, with vistas stretching across the Pfunders Valley to the Peitlerkofel.

You start directly from the top station of the Plose cable car. Right next to the sun terrace of the restaurant La Finestra, the path leads as a shared trail past the Gasthof Geisler to the crossroads with the ski slope. Immediately after crossing the ski slope, take the winter hiking trail that branches off to the right (lower trail). After about 500m you will come to the turnoff towards the ski hut (right). Follow the slightly sloping path into the forest and enjoy the silence of nature. After about 2 km you will reach the small village of Skihütte. Here you can stop off at the mountain hotel Schlemmer.
With snow shoes, take trail no. 17, without snow shoes trail no. 17C.

At the business park, take trail no. 1b to the ski lift valley station and follow the signs to Montemuro (trail no. 1). Alternative route: Pe de Börz› Monte Muro (H: 1 .5 h)

From the Pé de Börz car park, take trail no. 1 to get to the peak.

The Pfunderer high altitude trail is a spectacular and challenging multi-day hike in South Tyrol, leading hikers through the stunning mountain landscapes of the Pfunderer Alps. Spanning approximately 70 kilometers with 5,600 meters of elevation gain, the trail offers breathtaking views, wild alpine terrain, and exhilarating challenges. The route stretches from Sterzing  in the north to St. Georgen near Bruneck  in the south, connecting secluded valleys, lush alpine meadows, idyllic mountain lakes, and panoramic peaks.

This tour is ideal for experienced hikers with strong stamina and surefootedness, who enjoy the solitude of the mountains. The route is divided into 6 stages, with daily hiking times between 3 and 7 hours. Conveniently located huts along the way provide rest and refreshments, allowing hikers to recharge.

Due to the high altitude and alpine nature of the Pfunderer high altitude trail, careful planning is essential. Reservations at huts in advance and up-to-date information on trail conditions are important for a safe and enjoyable hiking experience.

 

The loop hike through the Rienz Gorge offers a diverse mix of nature, culture, and panoramic views. From Rodenegg Castle through the wild gorge to the apple orchards of Natz – an ideal tour for explorers.

This short family hike is educational, exciting and fun, with several outdoor recreational opportunities to offer. Accessible to prams and strollers, this hiking trail on the Plose has magnificent views of the western Dolomites, particularly the striking Peitlerkofel and rocky peaks of the Geisler Group.

The hike begins at the Fane Alm parking area, accessible via a narrow mountain road from the village of Vals. Initially, you follow trail no. 17 briefly in the direction of Fane Alm. Shortly after, you turn right onto the alpine road to Tschiffernaun Alm– a more relaxed alternative to the steep trail 15A. The road leads you up to Tschiffernaun Alm. At the beginning, you walk through dense forests, passing by small waterfalls. Later, near Stin Alm, the forest opens up to expansive alpine meadows.

The Dolomiten Panoramaweg Trail on the Plose offers magnificent views of the western Dolomites.

The winter hike to Anratterhütte starts at the Bunker Recreation Area parking lot in Spinges. Right at the beginning, you can see an old bunker, a small historical curiosity.

From here, follow the well-prepared winter trail marked No. 9, which is regularly groomed by a snowcat. The path gently ascends through the snowy forest, offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

After about 2 hours, you reach the Obereggerbach stream at 1,730 m and continue past Hinterleitneralm and Weberalm.

Another 30 minutes later, you arrive at Anratterhütte at 1,815 m, where a cozy mountain hut and delicious South Tyrolean specialties await you.

The High Route no. 2 consists of a distance of 180 km, divided into 13 stages, which connects Bressanone to Feltre. The itinerary touches the three provinces of Bolzano, Trento and Belluno.

Stage 2 goes from the Plose hut to Rifugio Genova, allowing trekkers to discover the wonders of the Puez-Odle Natural Park, often referred to as "Earth’s history book" due to its geological significance. Along the walk, the majestic Sasso Putia remains always in sight and offers many chances for a souvenir photo.

Stage 3 connects the Rifugio Genova  to the Rifugio Puez. With an additional half an hour walk it is possible to climb to the top of Piz Duleda (2.909m), which offers a stunning view. Due to the multitude of rocks and interesting geological creations, the plateau of Puez is often compared to a moonscape. 

The high altitude hiking trail of Valles is a varied hike with stunning views, some secured sections, and the chance to experience the traditional alpine village of Fane Alm. Perfect for hikers seeking a mix of adventure and natural beauty.

Both paths are regularly prepared and lead slightly uphill for about 2.5 km to one of the most popular huts in the entire Plose area. The lower path climbs a little steeper at the end and is very suitable for snowshoe hikers.Hike through a fairytale winter landscape to the Rossalm, one of the most beautiful ski huts in South Tyrol.  The way back is along the same route or alternatively you can choose one of the two alternatives.  The hike is also suitable for snowshoes.

With the sun rising on the Dolomite peaks of the Geisler Group, the Aferer Geisler and the Peitlerkofel, there’s no doubt that getting up early was well worth the effort.

The Cikilyr Trail is an easy walk through the beautiful natural scenery around Mühlbach. With minimal elevation change and enjoyable paths, it’s perfect for those seeking a relaxing hike.

At the cabin-railway mountain terminal called Valcroce - Kreuztal (2,050 metres), take the high road (path # 30) in a northerly direction, along the tree-growing limit to the Ochsenalm (2,085 metres, snack bar). Then ascend on foot path # 6 to the Plosescharte and along the ridge to the Leonhard Cross. Walk along a small path on the ridge to the telegraph Plose summit (2,486 metres, panoramic views) and from there in a southerly direction to the Plose Hut (2,446 metres, snack bar). Descend on path # 7 to Kreuztal.

The hike to the Astner Bergalm in Terenten starts at the parking lot of the Tiefrastenhütte. From there, follow the "Lerchnweg" trail, which takes you to the alpine hut in about one hour. This pleasant hike involves an elevation gain of approximately 200 meters. The path is well-maintained and leads through a picturesque landscape of meadows and forests. Along the way, you’ll enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The Astner Bergalm is a popular destination for families and hikers seeking a leisurely outing in nature. Once at the top, you can indulge in local specialties at the hut and enjoy the peacefulness of the mountains.
