GEOGRAPHICAL SITE: Brixen/Bressanone is the cultural center of the tri-lingual province of South Tyrol in the Italian Alps, on the north-western edge of the famous Dolomite mountains. It is one of the rare mountain towns that offers much more skiing and hiking. It was once an ancient episcopal see with considerable local power. Now it is a romantic and comfortable city, that still looks more Austrian than Italian. You will find the cathedral, many churches, museums, a fairy-tale abbey and the medieval old town with narrow streets, porticos and colorful shops.
LOCATION OF THE HOTEL: The DOMINIK stands on an archeological site in the oldest part of Brixen, close to the Rienz and Eisack Rivers and the delightful Rapp gardens. The heart of the city (cathedral) is just five minutes from the hotel on foot.
CLIMATE: The sunny town of Brixen has a very favorable and mild climate. Due to its setting on the southern side of the Alps, Brixen has typically Mediterranean weather and temperature.
THE HOTEL: The DOMINIK is a modern hotel, just 20 years old, with up-to-date decors and furnishings as well as traditional antiques and fine paintings to create a timeless ambience. The bedrooms make the very best of the fine views southwards, with balconies and terraces facing south. They are spacious and comfortable with well designed bathrooms and they were all redecorated recently.
LEISURE: You will find a sauna and a solarium to relax and a large indoor-pool that opens out onto the pretty gardens. A very well equipped gym is just 5 minutes walking-distance from the hotel and also 8 night-lit tennis-courts. The Plose -mountain is a beautiful hiking area and in the winter it offers some of the most attractive slopes in the country. A lot of mountain-bike trails make the DOMINIK an ideal starting point for long and short tours.
