Egon, director of the San Cassiano Cross-country Centre and of the Alta Badia Cross-country School, founded 30 years ago, will give you two exciting hours, including a visit to the new center dedicated to San Cassiano, to discover the activities that can be practiced. What would Christmas Eve be without music? After the Children's Mass you can hear the sounds of the tower brass from the Parish church tower Ortisei and then at the small Antonius Square. The guided Giro delle Cime tour is a must for skiers who want to dive deep into the winter splendour of the famous UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites. The guided tour is organised by the respective ski schools in the area. Registration and payment is therefore made directly with the respective ski school.

The snow is transformed and comes to life through the snow sculpture competition in Selva di Val Gardena. This competition, now in its 28th edition, is an adventure in creativity and originality, where participants challenge themselves by working with a fascinating and intricate medium. The result? Perfect and evocative works that seem to come to life. This competition has now become a tradition, having started in the early '90s. Sculptors and artists, mainly from the valley, who typically work with wood, enjoy three days of creating their giant-sized figures in icy snow. It's a spectacle that you can admire for hours, always discovering new details meticulously carved by the sculptors. This year, the theme of the competition focuses MUSIC, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Wolkenstein music band, which will be celebrated in 2025. The winners of the snow sculpture competition will be chosen by an expert jury. In addition, a People's Choice Award will be awarded separately. The award ceremony will take place on Monday, 30 December 2024 at 4 p.m. on the municipal meadow.

THE GUIDE IS ONLY IN GERMAN AND ITALIAN! An unforgettable winter hike through the idyllic Videgg/Viadacqua-Hirzer hiking area. Discover this stunning winter terrain on an organised snowshoe hike with guide. After reaching Videgg by bus from Schenna/Scena, our hike starts along the forest road, through the snow-covered forest looking out on a majestic mountain panorama to the Videgger Asse pastures and back. This winter hike maximises the experience of this pristine terrain, our snowshoes enabling us to move across the snow with little effort. The total elevation gain is approximately 400 m, and the hike lasts about 3 hours. For lunch we stop at a cosy mountain inn in Videgg to enjoy a taste of the sumptuous local fare. After this well-deserved break we make our way back to Schenna in the early afternoon. Throughout our snowshoe hike, we are accompanied by experienced mountain guide, Elisabeth Unterthurner.

We propose cooking lessons based on simple ingredients. You can learn about our traditional Ladin cooking linked to local traditions. In a few hours, you can learn to cook and finally enjoy some Ladin specialities. The cook speaks Italian and German. Monte Baranci is bathed in floodlight from 7-10pm and the atmosphere is fit for a world cup, providing both superlative night skiing and sledging on run a 3km in length. The Rifugio Gigante Baranci mountain hut is open.
