At first, the girl was surprised and thought the ball of wool must belong to the farmer's wife. But she was still mowing and had not noticed anything; then the farm girl knew that the ball of wool was intended for her, so quick as a flash she hid it under her apron and pretended that nothing had happened.
When she arrived home, she started to knit and she knitted and knitted. Then one day, she began to wonder why the yarn had not run out and - just as she was thinking about it and her attention wandered - the ball of wool disappeared. Then the girl knew that she had been given the wool by an “Antrisch” - one of the little folk who mine for treasure in the mountains.
