Collepietra is situated in the heart of the Rosengarten, Latemar, and Schlernmountains. Its enchanting views of the South Tyrolean Dolomites alone are reason for a visit. The scattered villages of Collepietra, San Valentino in Campo/Gummer, Cornedo all'Isarco/Karneid, Cardano/Kardaun, Prato all'Isarco/Blumau, and Briè/Breien are located between 275 and 1,650 m above sea level. On holidays here, the Burg Karneid castle, the symbol of the municipality, towers over the Val d'Ega/Eggental valley gorge and can be visited as part of a tour in the summer months. A visit to South Tyrol’s only astronomical observatory “Max Valier” as well as the planetarium in San Valentino in Campo di Sopra/Obergummer are both highly recommended.
